Would do, but working to late to get there in time. Pub seems like a good option

2-1 to iceland in the first leg

Away goals count though.

Iceland looked like a decent team in the 1st leg. They recently beat germany 4-1!

Any suggestions for a pre match pub on the dark side of town?

The Artisan's no bad. Some funny sights right enough, but decent pub.

We'll be doing well to get through tonight - the hope was they'd send their 1st team players back to the big team, but I notice Eggy is still in the u21 squad so I assume they've kept them all at u21 for this game.

Hopefully we make a good go of it.

Plenty of empty seats at fester road.....shock.

Scotland: Martin; Caddis, Wilson, Hanlon, Scobbie; McGinn, Wotherspoon, Coutts, Bannan; Murphy, Maguire.

Subs:Gallacher, Perry, Marr, Cairney, Templeton, Goodwillie, Griffiths.

Jonsson starts centre back for Iceland.

Away goals count double

NO Jim, they don't.

As far as I am aware no such football tournament has this ruling.

The Old Tolbooth

A good start by both sides, Iceland look massive going forward and are very dangerous, whilst Scotland are trying to play football and pass it through them, just the way it should be played at the San Giro

I went on a complete rant at the TV when he said that.

Er, no, they don't, Jim. If Scotland had lost the first leg 5-3 and drawn the second 1-1 they would not go through because "away goals count double". Complete ######.

I could do a better job than the majority of the complete welts that are involved in reporting Scottish football.

That's a pet hate of mine too.

So if we lose 4-2 away and win 1-0 at home does that mean we go through Jim.

Seeing as our away goals count double?

Welt.

Decent game this btw.

We're playing quite well going forward although they also are pretty dangerous. If we can score first, we might just do it.

Premise: Scotland win tonights leg 2-0.

Result 1: Due to Jim White's fantastic grasp of the rules, we are out having lost 4-3 as Iceland's superior two "double goals".

Result 2: The moron knows feck all and we proceed 3-2.

Tough one kids.

If we won 2-0 tonight going by his rule we'd have won the tie 4-2.

I wonder which of the OF will sign, then stall and ruin the career of the boy Murphy (who looks a very decent prospect).

A Scotland team comfortable in possession, creative & interesting to watch....who'd have thought it.

Ah, good spot. It seems I am confused by the wizardry of White. If only I was so good. :(

Eggert Jonsson has played at Easter Road 7 times and lost once, Easter Road holds no fear for him

Best line of the night!

Bannan has been tearing Iceland several arseholes down the flanks. I think Murphy looks like a decent player too, someone who can play the lone striker role well.

Bannan looks like a top prospect. Scored for Villa in Europe as well earlier in the season. Least you know he's going to be developing in England and not rotting away in Glasgow.

I think I love Barry Bannan. He's like a Scotland player of old.

Wotherspoon on the other hand is just Hibs.

Aye man. If it wasn't for that Albrighton fellae Bannan would play a lot more I reckon.

Surprised that Bannan was only a bit-part on loan at Blackpool last season I must say, top prospect.

Malinga the Swinga

Wotherspoon and Scobbie are the weak links in the team. Goalie doesn't look too confident, but forwards look good. At least they ar etrying to play football, as opposed to the gash the full team play. Goodwillie on in second half, along with Templeton, and a 1-0 victory is there for the taking.

Bannan on one side & Temps on the other is what's required for the 2nd half.

I'd like to see it, but I think having McGinn on one side keeps the balance just about right. If we go a goal down, we'll see Temps on. Otherwise, IMO, we won't see him til the last 10, if at all.

(I'm probably wrong, but I think it makes sense).

Loving the wee comment about Eggert playing at the San Giro 7 times and only tasted one defeat :D

Was his first appearance not as a sub when he was one of "Vlad's faceless cast of thousands" and then Big Zal popped up and spoiled the party?

I may have spliced these memorable moments together though.

The Old Tolbooth

Wotherspoon is not nearly as good as I thought he was, he's definitely the weak link in there and Temps would be much better.

The fact he's a #obo should have been your first clue.

Finboggason (sp?)

When they said that, I wondered if his old man played for Ayr United.
