The Illusionist...Very clever and evocative. The animation, and the majority of the film being set in Edinburgh, makes this a must see. A fitting tribute to Jaque Tati`s inherent skill in simple storytelling, this could have been set in any city in the world. But good Auld Reekie steals the show, if youve been brought up in Edinburgh or its environs, you will love this film!(favourite clip was when he finds himself in the Cameo cinema..literally.)

I went to see Tamara Drewe on Saturday, not my choice I hasten to add, I wanted to see The Other Guys.

But that slightly quirky british comedy filled with eccentric characters it was pretty good. The type of film that only seems to get made in this country.

7/10 as a gentle comedy.

2/10 for violence

9/10 for Gemma Arterton's arse.

The Town.

Set in Boston - a crime / heist movie that keeps the pace up nicely despite a length of over 2 hours.

Great cast, and very well directed by Ben Affleck.

Mesrine - Killer Instinct and Mesrine - Public Enemy #1

A double bill about French Gangster Jacques Mesrine who was assassinated by The French Police in 1979 in broad daylight in Paris and the lead up to it. Great acting by Vincent Cassels and Depardue, in the 1st film, and a fascinating true, ish, story. 9/10
