Get fit with Hearts - new programme!

24.08.2010

Hearts have today (Tuesday 24th August) announced an exciting new project that aims to help supporters become more active, shed a few pounds and improve their general health.

Football Fans In Training (FFIT) is being launched nationwide across every club in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League this September, and will kick off at Tynecastle Stadium on Wednesday 22nd September 2010.

Out of condition? Got a bit of a belly? Need some help to get in shape? Why not come to Tynecastle Stadium and train with Heart of Midlothian Coaches for free?

The initiative is aimed at men, aged 35-65 years who want to learn how to get fit, lose weight and become healthier.

Supporters will become part of the club for twelve weeks, be issued with official help Hearts training kit and work with our football and health coaches one evening per week.

The course will also feature guest appearances from both current and former players.

Participation is completely FREE!

Hearts Football Fans in Training

Start date: Wednesday 22 September, 5.30pm

Venue: Tynecastle Stadium

To be eligible for Hearts Football Fans in Training supporters must be: male, aged 35-65 years, and have a waist (belly) size of 38 inches or more or BMI of 27 or above.

Supporters can calculate their BMI by visiting http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi

Loved the TV commentator for the game at Hamilton.

Spotting a pie eating guy with his pie eating son, he observed "looks like he's already had a few . . . "

Made me laugh

Nope.

edit: first person to mention Nade in a non-ironic sense should be banned.

I'm surprised there's any coaches left to do this. I thought he'd eaten them all.

Seen a few former players who could do with taking the course never mind just appearing. I don't fit the criteria though, male-yes, 35 upwards-yes, but my waist and Body Mass Index just don't fit the bill.

Thundercats Are Go

I like the look off this so am off to eat some burgers in an effort to gain some weight.

Why does society always look to help the fat etc, they are the ones that eat too much, how about giving something back to those of us that look after ourself?

Poor show hearts. :whistling:

Say What Again

I move into the age group 9 days before the event, but I'm 0.5 off making the BMI.

I'm sure I can make it up in that time.

The problem with BMI is that there is no factor increase the taller you are. I am 6'2" so in order not to be classed as overweight I should weigh 88 kilos - that is skinny as feck.

That is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

BMI is a crock of sh1t. According to that measure, every one of the English rugby team that won the WC in 2003 was at best overweight, with most being rated as obese.

FWIW, I'm just fat, so I'm not using this as an excuse for me! :whistling:

I'm with you on that.

I am exactly the same height and weight that Lawrence Dallaglio was when he was playing for England.

Who's gonna tell him he needs to rock up to Tynie to sort himself out?

I'm up for this, and email sent.

The wrong side of 50 and a waistline that's taken 20 years to creep from 28 to 40 probably makes me a prime candidate.

Anyone else signed up for this (and is unafraid to admit it)?

Or are me and TimeBandit going to have the stadium to ourselves?

I think I'll be doing this (as long as it's a Wednesday every week) although I'm on holiday from 15-22 October. My jeans are 38" and that's all anyone's getting to know!!!

I know all I need is an incentive as I lost about three stone in as many months for the 2006 Charity Game. Sadly since 2007's game it's all crept back on and I've had nowt to aim for since then. The "competition" of training with others will hopefully bring the best out in me.

Sent off the e.mail, it'll be interesting to see how many apply. Not had much publicity. I see that it is no longer mentioned on the official web page.

Yup, I received an email too.

Interestingly, the email address it was sent from was at Stirling University.

Are they administering all the FFIT programmes across Scotland?

Are we going to be part of some study or other, I wonder?
