What Would Happen If.....

Watching the Braga vs Sevilla game and this scenario came in to my head. A team is going forward and wins a throw in deep into the opposition half after a defender has headed the ball out in a challenge, close to the touch line. The defenders momentum has taken him in to the supporters of the opposition, who in order to give their team an advantage, hold him back. The team going forward quickly take the throw and proceed to score. Would the goal be given?

I would imagine it would depend whether the ref or linesman saw it. They have a duty of care to the players on the park. So if either of them felt the players safety was in danger I'm sure they would have to stop the game.

 

If neither saw it though, I don't think anything could be done about a goal being scored. It's no different from the goal Argentina scored at the world cup, which the ref, linesman and the whole stadium saw was offside on the big screens. If the goal has been given, there's not a lot they can do about it.
