USA v Slovenia

Not sure what to make of this one.

Quite agree with Roy Hodgson that taking the game to the opposition doesn't really suit USA and that's probably what they'll be expected to do.

Can see it being edgy and decided 1-0 either way by a set piece.

You're right - doesn't really suit Bradley's game plan. Also they're not used to being favourites. They like the underdog tag and that's just not going to be around them much longer.

Looking forward to this.

This second round of group matches is starting to take shape nicely.

After the emphasis being on defence in the first round, the teams that need wins are going for it.

This World Cup could turn out quite nicely after all.

That was a peach. Goal of the tourny so far I'd say.

How come Clint Dempsey's mascara doesn't run when he's sweating?

Slovenia in the last 16 as it stands. Wonder what the odds of them going through were.

Aye, therefore they wont need to go all out to pump England in the last game down.gif

If it stay like this, Slovenia are through with 6 points

Ingerlund will be on one, USA on one and Algeria on 0.

This then heap lots of presssure on Ingerlund to win both remaining matches to avoid whoever wins Ze Germans group.

England would've known they needed to beat Algeria and Slovenia before the tournament even started. The result I don't want is a USA win, especially a convincing one.

Can't see that happening at the moment. They don't look comfortable at all.

FAO Don Fabio:

Even Martin Monkeyhead Keown can see what a useless pile of **** 4-4-2 is when the team using it is little more than bish bash bosh. Please, please, please listen.

But they will because they will want to win the group.

Win this game then they can afford to play cautiously for a draw in the final match

Looks like Buffalo Bills team of the tourney is heading to the exit doors.

Does this make Englands result and performance look even worse now?

Hmmm i'm not so sure dry.gif

Would be better if they had to beat England to qualify.

They will probably think, job done. And try not to pick up bookings, rest players etc.

Say What Again

C'mon Slovenia, win the group and turn every single English pundits world upside down.

"No, this can't be. I've had it mapped out for months. England win the group, face them, then them, then them in the semis, before beating them in the final. This isn't how it works!!" :(

Some of these bookings are ridiculous. The Ref's are all a bunch of idiots

The bookings have been ridiculous, mainly thanks to FIFA's desire to turn this into a non-contact sport. But the lining has been sensational: unprecedented at a major tournament for so many calls to be spot on.

Spain shocked. France shocked. Germany shocked. The USA on their way (or so it would seem) to being shocked by a country with 0.66% of their population.

England next? :peepwall:

Nothing can be taken for granted - not given England's goalkeeping situation, card happy refs and the possibility of more Englishmen falling down in a heap. I'm just about old enough to remember England-Morocco in 1986 too. But England 2-0 Algeria is my confident call.
