Near Gardeners Cottage on London Road Gardens. Ukranian Consulate is nearby

Indeed.

But, to grab the 3 points you'll have to be specific as to what is in the photograph.

You're so on the right lines.

I scrubbed the plaque from the photo as it was a dead giveaway.

Continuing the theme of away matches, here's one for those who may have, or maybe not, attended today's derby.

I've scrubbed the 'give away' seeing as my ones have been way too easy recently.

Indeed it is.

But, as per @Ally Bee, top marks are reserved for a precise hit on the actual arborial specimen in question.

The big clue is in the tree's decoration, and I must admit that I'm struggling to think up another clue besides the plaque that I scrubbed from the photo.

Could always take a stroll there and find it!

🤣🤣🤣

Not that one. Good shout, though.

My one is in London Road Gardens. It's a modest wee tree that folks likely walk past without a second glance and is currently adorned with Ukranian Flag coloured ribbons.

It was planted in 2010 and gives me a wee chuckle when passing as it has a rather grandiose title. Typical bleedin' Edinburgh. 😄

Next try. The world peace tree planted in 2010?

Edit: :D Guess it must be. Just saw the post above where you gave the year of planting.

Why, thank you, Mikey. Given all the wars that have gone on since then, perhaps they should have planted a bigger one. :) It's the thought that counts though.

I've just read that link and laughed at this:-

His Holiness Swami Ji declared, “If people go near the tree, touch it or pray there, their wish will be fulfilled”.

Some Hobo must've beat me to it yesterday. 😁

:D Better make sure you're on the ball next time. The good thing is that now we know who really was to blame for yesterday's defeat.

  • 4 weeks later...

Here's another away match day puzzler.

Obviously, the 'where' (or at least roughly where) is kinda obvious, but who might this be, and why is the person worthy of recognition?

At least there's always some culture to be had on these seemingly endless disappointing and lengthy away days ... even in today's destination.

Right ... that's IT ... I give up!!! 🤷

I honestly thought that that one would've been a bit of a stinker and had numerous clues lined up.

Nevertheless, hats of to you for such a speedy bit of sleuthing ... or fantastic quiz knowledge (unlike the woman on one of the quiz programs last week who thought that the Amazon was a river in Africa. 😁)

Its quite a bad pic tbh but since there's no hills in the scene is it something to do with WW1 in Belgium?

I never heard of the festival either but I was in the area and heard the music from afar so stopped to take a look. Didn't stay long as Wet Wet Wet were headlining 😄

Apologies to all for winding back, but I've been wracking my brains since last Monday morning and have been searching for photos.

Somewhere, archived, I MUST have more pics, but the only one I could find on my phone was this one from 30th September 2016 because I'd posted it elsewhere.

@luckyBatistuta ... you'll see right away how come I clocked the location when I awoke shortly after midnight and saw your 2nd picture.

In spite of me not having been there since 2016, the image was deep in ma heid. Your 1st photo was a tad distorted and was driving me nuts. Your 2nd one, much clearer, gave the game away.

isn't it amazing how images can reside in one's memory and be triggered years later?

Here is my photo from 30th September 2016. 👇
