Can you see what I mean by "hangers"? The 2 straight black lines are hangers and the chunky white bits at the bottom normally are at the top

Chunky white bits are clamps

Not really, even turning the screen upside down doesn't help me.

Plus I know what and where it is, so can't imagine it upside down.

Chunky white bit (clamps) clamp onto a beam or suchlike and the straight black bits (screwed rod) can be adjusted to hold a lighter piece of beam, these always (to the best of my knowledge) always hang down, first time I've ever seen them arse to elbow

I understand what you mean but can't see it in the picture.

There are no clamps or screwed rod (studding) in the photo. The piece that you may think is suspended is a capping.

Here's a close-up showing that detail.

If you ever head back there it's quicker, cheaper and easier to go to Hunters Quay on Western Ferries rather than Dunoon on Cal--mac.

Same as going to Orkney from Gills Bay on Pentland Ferries rather than from Scrabster.

Yep, I use Pentland every time I go to Orkney now. Calmac suited me better from Gourock because I could get some ticket that done me for 3 ferries, Gourock/Dunoon, some wee ferry/old world war 2 landing craft to Bute and then the ferry back to Wymss Bay

Cheers. I was there about twenty years ago. Time to go up there again soon. We had a camper van back then which was great getting to beautiful remote places like that.
