Mr Maroon
Anywhere anyone can think of on George Street or that? If not, it's Starbucks/Costa or she can get herself to ****. Cafe Centro, 38 George St. Just a couple of doors along from Starbucks at corner of Dode St/Hanover St and more or less above Madogs. Great coffee (and soup and paninis)

Ulysses
To keep putting further competitors out of business by attracting more customers. Doesn't really work. You eliminate all the competition, then hike your prices, then become uncompetitive, then it's worthwhile for others to enter the market and take you on because the margins are good. Meaning you think Starbucks could themselves become vulnerable in the years ahead if they eliminate too much competition in the meantime? But see this from the link Gorgiewave posted: "Price too low and your margins disappear, too high and your customers do". Given their prices are so high, I can't understand why their customers haven't disappeared, and can't believe marketing completely explains why not. Especially as they don't publicise the super-low prices mentioned in the link, so how many people actually know about them?
