Gavin and Stacey

explanation to bit in bold: It is for thicko's.

Sitcom's are a tired genre now but cheap to make.

Why highbrow?

House is a good example of comedy being used in a sitcom.

the office US/UK is a good beeb comedy, Blackadder and alan partridge are also good comedy programmes that made by the bbc.

Gavin and Stacey is mince. Rob Bryden sticks out like a sore thumb in it because he actually has some comedic talent.

So it's for the sort of thickos that don't know where apostrophes go?

House is a drama, not a comedy. It might be funny, but it's a drama.

The Office was highbrow? That very intellectual dance thing and Tim putting Gareth's stapler in jelly, Moliere would be ****ting himself if he wasn't dead.

Blackadder, chock full of butt and knob gags. Double entendre and scatology.

Alan Partridge is basically a clown, he takes pratfalls for your entertainment, it's not high brow either.

So you don't like it, fine, don't like it, but don't come on here and kid us on that you're somehow intellectually superior for liking it, you're not.

You give halfwits a bad name.

Post of the day. I think the self-congratulatory circle jerk/trombone conga 'awards' thread has got some people believing their hype. Sometimes less is more.

Doctor, I wasnt calling you a thicko personally, but I have already apologised for my aggressive argueing on this thread. I just think the programme is a bit thick, im sure intelligent people enjoy it though.

Please dont correct my grammar in future as I am using my very limited spare time at work to comment on a silly Gavin and Stacey thread (god knows why!) and so dont have time to sort any sort of grammar. Im just bashing out my thoughts as fast as they come to my head (if that wasnt obvious, haha.)

Doctor, you used the word highbrow, I say in my response to you "why highbrow?" I didnt mention the word highbrow at all and do not even have a full understanding of what highbrow comedy would entail. Furthermore you now accuse me of calling the office highbrow!? I really think you are putting words in my mouth which is a bit unfair.

Can we just leave it at that now, for some reason I got all passionate on my dislike for this particular programme and it would seem you got caught in the crossfire.

I am away for some 'highbrow' entertainment back at my country house now. :smiliz64:

Agreed. Far too much arse-grabbery going on in that thread.

Hey Roop, (again)

Unless I'm being paranoid im not sure what that has to do with me, ive hardly posted on that thread.

Perhaps it would be better to air those concerns on that particular thread.

I wish i didnt comment on this programme, ive already had heated debates on this with my mates, probably why I was overly resolute to begin with.

Not directed at you, s_j. You're right though, wrong thread to say it in.

Only funny ones are Rob Bryden and the fat welsh bird who is funny in nighty night.

Corden and Horne are seriously unfunny. Horne could maybe do drama quite well but Corden is about as funny as aids.

Funny.

Things don't have to be complex to be clever. It's well acted, well written and can usually be relied upon to make me smile from start to finish. I like that.

As another poster already remarked, it's very charming. :)

There's always someone who wants to shout down the popular stuff, but it's not always about lazy minds and cheap ideas. Sometimes things are popular because they're just straighforward, good, enjoyable content. Plus, who gives a crap about what's cool and what isn't? People will like what they like.
