redjambo
Explain please... In 2003, the French refused to support the U.S.-led "coalition of the willing" into going into Iraq. The U.S. public reacted against France, refusing to buy French produce, branding them "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" and changing the name of French fries to Freedom fries, even in the House of Representatives. See https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Freedom_fries Web 2.0 is the phenomenon whereby we, the public, generate the information content on the world wide web (e.g. in Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, blogs). It has led to all sorts of names with "2.0", e.g. Medicine 2.0, by those using Web 2.0 technologies. See https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Web_2.0 Pete came, he promised us a demo, he left. He "did a Pete".

Tazio
Words like shan, barry and gadgie are actually old travellers words or country words. Gabriel
Not new words but certainly different usages. Inanely calling any minor event in life a "journey". Beloved word of celebrities and anyone with aspirations to fame. "Oh my love it's always a shame to lose someone from Strictly in the first week; how do you feel?" "It's been a journey, Bruce, it really has". Describing something as "a big ask". I think this originates from Australian cricketers describing the run total they've been set, but it has been readily accepted into British English in the last four years.
