'Arular' I actually own quite a lot of those but I particularly love the emboldened albums. If I was to look for top albums from that selection, Spiritualized, Interpol and Arcade Fire would have to be my top three. Pushing them close, to follow another debate, would be In Rainbows. NOT Radiohead's best (IMO that is The Bends) but an excellent album with Videotape being absolutely ruddy gorgeous.
Quagmire
It's pish. Their apparent "depressing" stuff was better, In Rainbows just summed up for me all the pretentious melodramatic bollocks they've produced sinse The Bends. If you like them fair enough that's your choice but it's not going to change my opinion of them. i was voicing an alternative perspective to that of "it's pish". what are you reffering to as "melodramatic", by the way? Ppth-pth-pth-pth-pth... haha amigo! picards saved your and few of my mates blushes, just pondering wether to tell them? your safe. http://www.nme.com/news/the-strokes/33930
I'M IBRAHIM TALL
I'm not a massive fan of guitar music but if I was to say the song that brought The Strokes to my knowledge it would be "Last Night" I actually own said album and its all a bit samey to me. Also the sleeve pictures of the band and their manager etc is overly smug for my liking. Remind me a bit of Franz Ferdinand in that they seem to spend absolute fortunes trying to look like tramps!!!! More of a dance music man myself and would like to have seen Human After All by Daft Punk in there as well as maybe Mylo's debut album as well. Finally I like to think that although I'm not into a lot of the bands in the list, my knowledge of popular culture means I know the songs and the band members etc but someone is going to have to talk me through At The Drive In, who are at number 11???????? Regal Kingston
Where the **** are The Doves!?!? Lost Souls (2000) is a great 'album' not just an effort with a few stand out tracks you can put it on and listen to the whole thing and its all good. The Last Broadcast (2002) has some utter classics in it. I have never heard of half the artists from 51-100. The NME staff appear to have disappeared up their own backsides. Botch?? The Radio Dept? Godspeed You! Black Emperor:?? Who the **** are these guys!!!!!
Jamboross
Botch and GYBE were both fairly well known I thought. Botch split up and GYBE went on hiatus quite a few years ago though.
The People's Chimp
My two cents on the radiohead debate is that 'in rainbows' is my favorite of their records. looking at the rest of the list it's cool to see some other bands in there botch - we are the romans at 67 is a fantastic metal record Godspeed you! black emperor at 63 roots manuva at 85 mcklusky do dallas some dubious ones though. the new twilight sad album has been out five minutes and ain't a patch on the first one and the shellac record excellent italian grayhound aint the best. and Mirrored by battles is missing. but alas. Godspeed You! Black Emperor are utterly sublime. And good old roots manuva is a decent shout.
djf
Can't believe The Moon and Antartica didn't even make the top 50. It's wouldn't even be in my top5 personally but there is no way it shouldn't be in the top 10 of anybody's albums of the decade list, no matter your taste.
