For me, your stated luxury of central heating is essential for survival in Scotland (unless you wear plently of thermally pleasant clothing). Anyway, all I really need is heat (in whatever form - a coal/wood fire would do) , an oven, a kettle, a quilt for my bed, alcohol. A car, maybe. Suppose I could cycle to work, in that case a bicycle. Stewart MacD Posted November 7, 2009 Share Posted November 7, 2009 Could easily do without: TV gambling machines- "pokies/bandits" Cars Sydney winters State Governments (an Aussie anachronism, like an overseas head of state) kids in pubs and clubs (at least when they're not gagged or tied to chairs) hair (not much choice) lager kebab shops neighbours wall-to-wall sport in pubs Couldn't do without my books my music ABC radio in the morning (the aust Beeb) tea/coffee, including the mid-morning one at any of my favourite places. rice Levis and other decent threads comfy shoes Chinese (and Thai, Japanese, Korean) restaurants Guinness In fact, I'm off for a bit of the last 2 now....
