And I am knackered -

My golf is close but also so far away... Hitting the ball well but misjudging all distances with wedges causing me to take 3 from within 100 yards a lot...... I know that is down to a lack of playing / practising but it is still frustrating.

My long game is good though, and I'm hitting ball off the tee as well as I can, nearly drove a couple of Par 4s that are not usually in range so was very happy with this... It really makes a huge difference when I'm hitting  wedge and my playing partner has a wood in their hands.... Looking forward to the season and think i can get back to 3 again (think i'm 3.9 just now) and would love to actually win something this year!

Second winter medal today, followed up an excellent 64 with a brutal 74.

It actually wasn't all that bad. Didn't quite drive as well as last weekend but my putting let me down, was far too aggressive with it.

I played up at the Kittocks yesterday, bloody windy.

What a great course though, really enjoyed it.

Desperate for more, looking at their seniors open on Tues March 12th.

I can imagine, it was bad enough playing parkland!

I played it on Saturday. Greens were superb as usual and it got a bit blowy then too!

I finally decided to order it yesterday, but found a Ben Sayers one at £65

https://www.clarkesgolf.co.uk/ben-sayers-xf-laser-rangefinder.html

Played in howling gale at Eyemouth, honestly thought I was in danger of getting blown off the cliff at the 7th, the trolley kept getting blown over.

But the rangefinder worked fine, only used it a few times as I couldn't keep my hand steady enough in ****ing wind

Played yesterday at pumpherston, where we had 18 winter Greens.

The rangefinder worked fine and gave me correct yardages

so for £65, would definitely recommend.

I've heard brilliant things about Newmachar and been desperate to play it...it's just the drive that puts me off heading up. I've heard it's a really tough course though.

Panmure has been on the hitlist for a while.

Strathmore is probably my only chance of actually competing

Newmacher is tremendous. Very highly recommended even though it's a bit of a drive

Apologies for the light relief - but I actually thought this was quite funny. Not sure why they have done it - think Fleetwood is a bit of a joke. But a good laugh anyway - more laughs in four minutes than four hours of Mrs Brown's Boys anyway

The European Tour does stuff like this each year and the videos go on throughout the season. If you've not seen it, look out the one with Rory in the car with Stenson and Poulter where he calls Thomas Bjorn ahead of the Ryder Cup. Bjorn does a response video too which is good.

The Tour also does a lot of challenges including players which are entertaining (14 club challenge, night speed golf relay challenge etc).

I don't really get your meaning regarding Fleetwood.

It's good when it gets to the stage of someone smashing a putter, thinning a wedge or dollying a driver/3 wood.

3rd entry in our winter comp, last 2 rounds have been poor. So inconsistent, from hole to hole.

64/73/74 so far from the 3.

It's best 4 scores wins. Won't be anywhere near with those 3.

Goswick is a great track, highly recommend a bash there.

Not played bamburgh but it has a good reputation despite a few blind shots.

Dunstanburgh castle is a nice track a little further south of you're in the area.

Nice one thanks. We're taking the wee one to Berwick for a wee break in June so I'll be taking the clubs and sneak away one evening for 18 holes.

Played Magdalene Fields last time we were there but fancy something a bit more upmarket this time.

Goswick is a good course. Some unusual holes and generally in really good nick. Last season the rough was pretty brutal if you went off line.

Played Bamburgh Castle. A few blind shots but they are dealing with some of them by clearing the view from the tee. Pretty good course. They have a 4 man scramble coming up in a few months

Very funny indeed?

Did you check out Monty's driver shot in Dubia they try to recreate it with Fleetwood, Rafa, and Matt Fitz.

Interesting outcome.

Yeah, amazing how much things have changed in 23 years. A driver of the deck to carry 220 yards. With today's equipment, Rory and DJ carry 6 irons that distance.

Good effort from Fleetwood to get it on.

But interestingly 2 out of the three couldn't hit it any further than Monty with the same club.

Wish technology would help me that much:unsure2:

Recommendations for an Electric Trolley please anyone?

Looking to get one for the coming season, not looking to pay more than £600, never had the cash for the recent Motocaddy/Bag offer that finished in January unfortunately.

I would prefer one with the GPS/Yardages on screen type trolley, and any pro-cons to Acid/Lithium battery.

TIA.

You've just missed a massive American Golf sale on trolleys. I picked up a Motocaddy S3 Pro for £300 down from £550. Sold the bag for £50 as well so got it for £250 effectively.

I wouldn't waste my time with a lead acid battery.

Kilspindie - not strictly true though, just play later and there are never any mats left, if it's bang in the middle of the fairway we kick to the side but not 100% in the rough, the course is immaculate these days.

What do you do when your ball is not in the middle of the fairway? Kilspindie member asking.

LOL so you'll know if you don't hit the bang centre of the fairway then it's running off into the semi anyway thanks to all the elements, otherwise it's a wee flick to the edge - never into the rough though.

It's generally accepted that you can knock your ball into the first cut when mats are in operation is it not?

Kilspindie probably a bit too expensive though, £75 a round they have advertised on their website. Reckon I might try get to Gullane if the weather is decent. £46 for #2 and £33 for #3.

This coming season will be my last there, it's a great course and always in perfect Links condition, but the members don't help themselves, the catering and staff are brilliant, but the bar staff are a disaster, you feel like an inconvenience.   This faff of ordering drinks at the bar, food in the restaurant, paying separately, but tea/coffee is separate again.

It's like a care home in there most of the time, Skeddy the Pro can be class one day and then the next you'd think you've sh4t in his kettle. The Director is possibly the nicest golf club guy I know, one of the main reasons I stayed this coming season.

Holes 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 16 and 18 and brilliant!  An enjoyable test and beautiful scenery.

Not at Kilspindie, fairway & 1st cut mats used, 2nd cut play as it lies. Kilspindie is immaculate, thanks to the members/visitors adhering to proper mat usage, seems some folk have been starting a round without a mat and playing from the 1st cut. :levein_interesting:

Any course I’ve played in winter that have mats all allow you to play from the first cut.
