A group of us were out last month and my mate pulled a bird in Cav, took her home (to her parents bit) and when he woke in the morning hungover she was getting her school uniform on! Turns out she was only just 16!! Telling you what though she looked the best part of 20 dolled up and would have got it rotten. Fair play I say. Well this was part of the defence but he got nicked cos she had let it slip in one of the many conversations over the period of wooing she wasnt over 16 and he proceeded anyway. No but I well remeber driving to Killie and back in a day to watch us get horsed in an abject display that 'Rixie' blamed on the ****ing wind !!!!! Hardly the peadophile he was made out to be. Anyone who grooms kids and abuses them would IMHO be put down. But in this case it does look like a guenuine love for each other and not the usual sicko. Mr Rix's conviction for an offence against a child will never cease to be considered in this context unless the present law is changed...which, other than to be made more rigorous and restrictive, is extremely unlikely to happen in the forseeable future. Completely made up there. The girl's father was/is a leading sports reporter on a national tabloid newspaper. That was the connection that has been touted as 'friends of the family'. The guy's football allegiance would make it likely that he would be more interested in Rix (and, probably, a bit pally) than players from, say, Tottenham Hotspur FC. The story of the liaison with Rix was ready for the paper before the police had been brought into it. There was no miscarriage of justice. Rix was banged up for something he admitted to. To his credit, he never sought to drag the girl's name through the mud; and she wasn't an innocent 8-year-old being abused, she was a bit more streetwise than that. The puff-piece for that autobiography suggests that he'll be telling a bit more of the story from his side but no names will be named. Once it's launched, you'll see which tabloids run the story and how and you might get a feel for the players in the scene. Would you congratulate a 40 year old man for pumping a 16 year old? 19/20 fair game. 16 - still a bairn. Wouldn't congratulate and it's unlikely that I'd ever find myself hooking up with a 16 year old but I certainly wouldn't criticise. I recently congratulated a 43-year-old on taking up with a 21-year-old. Nearly the same age difference. He's looking great on it as well. It's taken years off him. Correct. In Scotland anyway, if he was applying for a job coaching U16 girls, he would be disclosure checked and the conviction would still show up. Given that the teams have a duty of care over the players, they would have to refuse him employment.
