I agree that this might be a tough game for United. If West Ham sit in and defend, they could make it really difficult for United. If West Ham go for it, I'd expect United to score a couple at least. There is many a player who has turned his hand to management who would have been in Uniteds shadow in the 90's. Not sure how that makes you a bad manager or be lacking in some capacity. shaun.lawson
Now, let's put the medals on the table.. CWC and FA Cup? Sure. Chelsea had neither the ambition nor the resources to challenge United while Zola was there. In truth, that era was in keeping with their southern softie glory days of the early 70s, and hence, with their natural standing as a club (a big one - but not that big). Bearing that in mind, their record in head-to-heads against United was remarkably good - especially at Old Trafford, where the home side came to regard them as something of a bogey team. Incidentally, I'm unconvinced by Zola as a manager, and put West Ham's recent improvement down to Steve Clarke's arrival. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this season proves as false and as much of a case of papering over the cracks as when they finished 7th in 01/2 before going down the following year. As a player, though, I don't see that there's much more Zola could've achieved at Chelsea - and I think their fans realised that too.
Mr Romanov Saviour of HMFC
BTW, the world record is 1,275 minutes so Man U are only a few games away from it! EDIT: Hmmmm, seems Van Der Sar isn't going to break Woods record - 1711: There has been a bit of confusion over Edwin van der Sar's record. The run by Chris Woods at Rangers - 1,196 minutes during the 1986-87 season - included all competitions and Van der Sar did actually concede during the Fifa Club World Cup. So as things stood at half-time, by our reckoning Van der Sar had gone 1,167 minutes without conceding in the league, but in all competitions he is "only" 855 minutes without being beaten. From BBC.
