Should be a decent game as well. West Ham going well, but cant see past a United win.

United are like a machine just now.

Slightly concerned about this game, United have yet to win at Upton Park since West Ham came back up, this might be the day we come off the rails a tad.

I agree that this might be a tough game for United.

If West Ham sit in and defend, they could make it really difficult for United. If West Ham go for it, I'd expect United to score a couple at least.

United are not the same without Rooney. Home win.

Class player, but United seem to be coping ok.

Tevez aint a bad lad to come in. Thats the difference, thats why they will win the league - and with points to spare.

Rooney's available for selection today.

And we've comfortably won every game since his injury, I'd say we've been OK

Zola and Clarke know what is needed to beat United. Walk in the park.

Fair enough Clarke, having worked under Mourinho's champions.

But, Zola? You having a laugh? Lived in the shadow of Man United for his whole time at Chelski.

It was Arsenal that Zola couldn't get the better of, not manure.

May I just add, Zola saw United win 6 Premiership titles, 2 FA Cups, a World Club Championship and a European Cup whilst playing for Chelsea.

What did Zola win in that same period of time?

You're forgetting that he's a really, really nice guy though. :mw_rolleyes: That eclipses anything United did.

Cup Winners Cup.

I do have a lot of time for Zola, one of the best ever imports into the Premiership. But S.N.T.H is right, he lived in United's shadow for the whole of his time at Chelsea.

When did United win the World Club Championship during Zolas time?

1999, beat Palmeiras 1-0 with a goal from Roy Keane.

My bad. Should remember that as it was Rixy baby who made a big sub in that game.

There is many a player who has turned his hand to management who would have been in Uniteds shadow in the 90's.

Not sure how that makes you a bad manager or be lacking in some capacity.

They never won the World Club Championship until this year - I think it was the Intercontinental Cup that they won.

That's not a point anyone was making, I certainly wasn't.

Someone made a comment about Zola having the beating of United from his time at Chelsea, something that I was proving to be wrong.

I've never said he was a bad manager.

Was that not the Intercontinental Cup or something?

They got knocked out of the WCC and Beckham got sent off? Sure that's why they never entered the FA Cup

Will Van Der Sar beat Chris Woods's british record today if he doesn't concede a goal?

According to Five Live, he beat it after 33 minutes today.

We look awful, especially when the BerbaGod thinks he's a midfielder. Plenty possession, not enough spark up front. Reminds me of another team..

Sure. Chelsea had neither the ambition nor the resources to challenge United while Zola was there. In truth, that era was in keeping with their southern softie glory days of the early 70s, and hence, with their natural standing as a club (a big one - but not that big). Bearing that in mind, their record in head-to-heads against United was remarkably good - especially at Old Trafford, where the home side came to regard them as something of a bogey team.

Incidentally, I'm unconvinced by Zola as a manager, and put West Ham's recent improvement down to Steve Clarke's arrival. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this season proves as false and as much of a case of papering over the cracks as when they finished 7th in 01/2 before going down the following year. As a player, though, I don't see that there's much more Zola could've achieved at Chelsea - and I think their fans realised that too.

BTW, the world record is 1,275 minutes so Man U are only a few games away from it!

EDIT: Hmmmm, seems Van Der Sar isn't going to break Woods record - 1711: There has been a bit of confusion over Edwin van der Sar's record. The run by Chris Woods at Rangers - 1,196 minutes during the 1986-87 season - included all competitions and Van der Sar did actually concede during the Fifa Club World Cup. So as things stood at half-time, by our reckoning Van der Sar had gone 1,167 minutes without conceding in the league, but in all competitions he is "only" 855 minutes without being beaten.

Any child who wishes to be a footballer should watch any game they can involving either one of those two players.

Scholes and Giggs are top, top, top class players. Even at their advanced ages.
