Not just because it's topical but Diegos against england (the mazy run one) Sublim.

Roga Milla v Columbia cos he made the keeper look a right t*t.

Bergkamp v Newcastle was brilliant

Zola against Norwich.

Second best goal I can ever recall scored against a team I support - Maradona's second against England being the best. In terms of the best goals I've ever seen, I'd have a top three of Diego (and I'm English: if I ever met Maradona, I'd shake him by the hand for being such a legend), and these two:

Jermaine Beckford, incidentally, was dicovered by the non-league club I watched while growing up, Wealdstone. The selling-on fee the Stones will get when someone buys him will be massively important: you could argue he's kept them alive.

I never tire of seeing that goal, sheer class.

this one?

Nah - I've always regarded that as a freak. As evidenced by the point that Carlos spent the rest of his career trying to repeat it, and made a right fool of himself on many occasions!

he never had any other free-kicks like that either. He'd just hit them with power and see where they went, that free-kick just had curl

Given you're a QPR man BB, I'm surprised you've not mentioned this:

Wonderful goal from the team that puts the glamour into London football.

I used to have a VHS video called '101 Great Goals', and it had Pop Robson, Hereford, Walsh, Fash etc.

Great goal by Gerry Francis at Loftus in the mid-70s.

Come on you Rs!!

You mean this one (I've got the same vid):

Norwich, by the way, deprived QPR of the title that year with a 3-2 win at Carrow Road late in the season. Dave Sexton said afterwards that winning your remaining games should prove enough - but sadly, it didn't. Sorry about that, mate!

Carlos Alberto's goal for Brazil in the 1970 World Cup Final.

No good at this uploading Youtube Clips malarkey so relying on someone putting it up or telling me how to do it.

A truly fantastic goal from start to finish.

Great goal, but it missed the 20 - odd passes that led up to it

If you watch the vid from 0:45, it does show the whole build-up, interspersed with Carlos Alberto's comments. I looked for a version with Kenneth Wolstenholme's majestic commentary, but couldn't find one unfortunately. But you're right: even Clodoaldo's dribbling in the build-up is breathtaking.

It's a great goal. QPR were a great team back then. It all seems very 'Life on Mars'.

Well - it may not be the 1970s any more, but Maradona in the news, Liverpool challenging for the title, dole queues getting longer... it's the eighties again! :)

Van Basten in the 1988 Euro Championship final is one of the greatest goals of all time. How the hell he put it where he did (and meant to by the way) from that angle is incredible. All of these ones where guys take on four or five players before tapping in are ten a penny but Van Basten's was special.

FACT!

Plenty more that can be considered 'greatest goal ever.' It's all subjective...

One of the above?

Two spring to mind which gave me great pleasure when I was at Hampden to see that famous Joe Jordan goal what a night we qualifyed for the world cup finals, the other was the Stefan Adam goal against the gers in the cup final its was the first time I had see us win the cup.

Grumpy.

Can't see youtube at work but this goal is without doubt the best goal ever scored, at least the best goal I have ever seen scored. And I have to admit Wolstenholme's commentary was fantastic during it, 'Brilliant, Brilliant'
