The guy did have a lock and chain but said a big boy stole it and ran away Felt sorry for the poor boy, having to sell his new bike to buy his mum a nice birthday present and then someone steals his lock and chain. I simply bought a bicycle from the young chap who wanted a quick sale in order for him to purchase a birthday gift for his dear old mother. In my drunken state I thought I could be the next Christopher Hoy and be an Olympian. However when I woke up this morning I came to my senses and thought that I may need more than a bicycle to emulate the great man, hence my reasoning for selling the bicycle.
