What does everyone think?

Just downloaded and installed - looks pretty impressive so far.

Apologies if there is already a Chrome thread - the search function didn't find one...

using it now... very clean...and quick. I'll reserve full judgement till tomorrow.

Had problems installing until I added Google Updater to the Firewall exceptions.

Very clean, very quick, love the Most Visited and Search History functions :thumb:

using it now, seems fast and not crashed yet and it's not even reached V1 of the app yet!

I find scrolling down the page a bit jerky.

Couldn't find the "home" button for a while! Got it now. How do you manage bookmarks?

At the top right, click on the spanner, then 'Always show bookmarks bar'.

where is the "home" button btw?

At the top right, click on the spanner, then 'Options'. In the 'Home Page' section, check the 'Show Home button on the Toolbar' box.

Commander Harris

I like the look and feel. It's certainly pretty speedy too, seems to handle pages heavy in javascript particular well.

Although having used mouse gestures for years with Opera I can't cope without them anymore.

Sounds interesting.

Stick with Firefox.

goodness me, I just skimmed the license previously but that's pretty ridiculous.

I'll be sticking with Opera. :) (wouldn't mind if someone made a "chrome" skin though, I do like the look and feel.

Got to admit I'm a bit uneasy about this whole thing. Basically, Google (a huge, multinational company) has poached all the best bits of the Firefox code and modified it a bit so that they can poach any information which users send via their browser?

Sounds dubious to me...

That's not the case mate, it's been built from scratch by Google, it hasn't poached anything from FireFox.

Rab, meant to ask a couple of questions:

1. how are you enjoying your new job with Google?

2. how was your night out when you left Mozilla?

How are you mate? Seems they're still funding Mozilla and are open that they've incorporated good stuff from them plus open source from Safari.

From what I've seen, it's tremendous - way faster and the navigation is superb. I'll stick with Safari on my macs but it's nice to feel you're not feeding the Microsoft monster on these PC thingys.....

The Mozilla night was pish, full of ancient hippies murmuring about Pic and DB2 whilst drinking prune juice.

Googles going well. Had Bill G on the phone this morning trying to get me over to Micro$oft, but quite happy here the now :thumb:

Hey dude, long time no speak, I'll drop you a PM shortly.

Here's where I got the info on Chrome and its relationship with Firefox:

http://www.wired.com/techbiz/it/magazine/16-10/mf_chrome

It shares some components with Firefox and Safari, of course they're all open source, and the browser itself is open source so the doom-mongers shouldn't worry too much about subversive features.
