Where is your name common?

Has anyone tried this yet? I was amazed to see that my name (Robertson) is more common in New Zealand than in Scotland in terms of per head of population.

And my wife's surname is so unusual that in the list of top first names her name as well as her dad, mum and stepmums were listed. Only a few countries listed on it so far so not complete by any matter of means.

Romanov Stole My Pension

My name is most common in New Zealand too. I'd imagine if they seperated Great Britain into Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales then Scotland would be by far highest for me.

My surname has a high concentration in Austria which seems strange as we always thought it to be Irish/Manx!

New Zealand, Australia and Canada all come before the UK for Cameron. Surprisingly there are also a 'high' number in Austria, Germany, Italy, Argentina and all of scandanavia

To be honest I think the search page is a load of .... my surname (Sarkis) came with my da's family from lithuania (more of a lithy name than romanov) but its also very common in Armenia, current President Sarkisian. No family that I know of in Australia, Austria, or America, top three results on my search

It's accurate enough tat in addition to the names in my wifes search it also identifies Birmingham, Redditch, Edinburgh and Trondheim as the most common cities. The same places that the names listed come from.

Where is Appin in Scotland?

I would have thought my surname would be more popular up this way rather than Bathgate, but it may be accurate.

Our family name originates in the Borders but in fact originally comes from Roman times.

The stuff on that website is bizarre :

Of the top 10 cities , 7 are either Swiss or German but all the top regions are in Argentina.

None of the top regions or cities are in the top 3 countries : UK , NZ & Oz.

I'm confused.
