Acey
Banks - 6: Fairly solid; no chance with either goal. Thomson - 4: Positioning is rank, tackling is pretty weak, and crossing is shocking. Get rid please. Berra - 6: Thought he struggled against Porter; never MotM in my opinion. Big Z - 8: Much more of a MotM candidate. Rarely lost a ball in the air. Wallace - 6: Wish he'd get forward more often. Looked ok. Doo-doo-doo-doo - 5: Shooting and crossing were poor. Was it him who lost his man for 'Well's equaliser? Stewart - 8: Good game. He can play an excellent ball on the deck; why ruin it by attempting 80-yarders? Excellent control + finish for his goal. Karipidis - 7: Did well. Good passing. Driver - 7: Had their RB in his pocket. Wish he'd fire in more low crosses rather than chipping to the back post, though. Big Man - 6: Good goal. Cut out the diving, FFS. Mole - 8: Excellent shift. Really impressive. Subs MIKO, MIKO, MIKO -10: MIKO, MIKO, MIKO Cesnauskas - 6: Did fairly well. Donkey - 1: Never a footballer. Moan tae ****, Makela. Only a Game
Banks - 5 Thought he might have done better with the second goal Thomson - 4. A position that after all this time, STILL needs fixing. Berra - 7 Very solid. A bit more captainlike. Zaluikas-8 I thought he was superb today Wallace 6- Never troubled at the back but didnt get forward as much as he might have. Kingston 6 Dont like him in a wide position. Tried hard but not much happened for him Stewart - 8 An excellent game apart from one or two pieces of nonsense. Bossed the midfield. Karapidis - 7 Needs a bit more presence about him to play in the positions he gets used in. but reasonably okay. Driver 6. A bit of a mixed game. Some nice runs but poor final balls most of the time Ksanavicious 6. Absolutely horrible miss followed by a brave finish. Worked hard all day. Mole-9 Did everything but score. Ran his heart out. Showed all the time for the ball. Held it up well. Deserved a goal but our final ball was never good enough. My MOTM though. Miko -7 Right up for it when he came on. Great finish. Could start next time with Larry moving inside one. Makela-3 Shocker Chesney -5 Not bad.Didnt really get fully into the game.
From Perth to Paisley
*Also Ksnevicuis didnt so much dive as 'go down' under a challenge. Bit harsh with the booking but thats the rules i guess. It is the rules but why then about 10 minutes after he had booked Ksnevicuis did he just wave David Clarkson up after he went down and claimed for the free kick on the edge of the Hearts box? One rule for Lithuanians and another for the rest...

Patrick Bateman
Mole had a very good game today, pulling the motherwell centrehalves out wide and winning a fair share of headers. Hardly the waste of skin some morons had called him. Plently of fight, a wee bit of skill, but still lacking a killer instinct up front (feels strange saying that after 3 goals, but Motherwell were hilariously bad defensively)

bighusref
Banks - 6 Nowt much to do tbh, should have skelped Quinn. Thomson - 6 Not a great right back, better than Neilson though. Zaliukas - 6 Strolling it until he let Motherwell score their first. His communication with Berra is non existent. Berra - 6 Patchy display. His communication with Zaliukas is non existent. Wallace - 7 Good player, not a full back though. Kingston - 7 Better than he has been for a long time. He has obviously been told by Laszlo to shoot on sight. Stewart - 8 Excellent performance, just like the Stewart that started last season. Karipidis - 4 Anonymous. Proved that his position is centre half. Driver - 4 Can't pass/won't pass. If we had dropped points today, his greed and awful shot with his right would have cost us a game. Gets less grief than Ksanavicius due to his nationality. Ksanavicius - 6 Poor game but he scored again. Strikers are there to score, he keeps playing until he stops scoring IMO. Mole - 9 Fantastic performance, robbed of a goal by the greed and lack of ability of Driver. Subs Mikoliunas - 7 Not much to do but comes on and scores a raker. Cesnauskis - 5 Poor show from him. Makela - 4 Awful performance culminating in giving away a goal with one of the worst first touches I have ever seen and wasting an excellent chance. JamboJen
Banks - 6 - for some reason he worried me pretyt much from kick off. Didn't seem to be communicating with his defence in the 1st half which caused a couple of scares. No chance with either goal. Still think we need a new #1. Thompson - 5 - Tried to be too complicated in the first half. Has a tendancy to follow the ball and not maintain his position. Would personall have taken himm off at half time but seemed as though Csaba had a word and told him to keep it simple, which saw an improvement in the second half. Don't think I had any worries with him in the second half. Zaliukas - 8 - Dealt with everything in the air. Tried to break forward at times and passing was much improved. Also had to cover for Thompson in the first half which he did well. Possibly lost his man for their first goal but would need to see it again. Berra - 7 - No real problems. Occasionally takes too many touches around his box but generally very strong beside big Zal. Wallace - 7 - Can't really think of much he did, so he must have done alright. Got up the pitch well in the second half. Passing also much improved from late last season. Kingston - 6 - Much more effective when he drifted into the middle but far removed from his performance against Hull. Tracked back though which was a pleasant change. Stewart - 10 - Flawless apart from his silly yellow, which to be fair he dragged himself away from, albeit too late. Passion channelled in the right ways, made sensible tackles, only did the headless chicken bit once and to be fair won the ball back, and picked out some excellent passes including pretty much creating the winner. The guy needs man management, if this is how he plays when he's got it we've got a new player on our hands. Karipidis - 7 - Very effective in the holding role. Able to make interceptions, win headers, cover his full backs and pick out a pass. Good performance. Driver - 6- Played well in flashes. Should have squared at the start of the 2nd half to put us 3-1 up. Hopefully with match fitness he'll manage to play as we know he can for the full 90 minutes. Ksanivicius -7 - Started really well, then missed what looked to be a really good chance after which his head seemed to go down and his first touch deserted him. Persevered for his goal and took one for the team, linked up well at the beginning of the second half again before tiring. One of his better matches. Mole - 8 - Full of running and a lot stronger than when he first made it into the first team. Never an out and out striker but managed to hold the ball up well and bring his team mates into it. Did better in the second half when the Well defence tired. Shouldn't be a starter once we've made some signings but he did well today. Subs: Chesney - 6 - Offered something different when he came on, a lot more direct than driver, picked out some good passes and tracked back well. Miko - 9 - What a goal!!! Also tracked back well and made one great challenge. Makela - 0 - Don't think he did a single thing right. Gave away their 2nd goal, dire first touch, no pace, no vision, no passing ability. How crap is the football in Finland?!?!?! Manager: Csaba - 8 - Sert up his team well, presumable the reason for the turnaround in Thompson's performance and Makela apart (who we were all probably wanting to come on anyway) his subs were the right ones at the right time. The Marooney Meister
Banks - 6 May have been unsighted at 2nd goal not much to do otherwise. Thomson - 6. Thought he got stonger as game wore on. Berra - 6 Average, still doesn't look like a ?1.5M player to me. Zaluikas-7 Great game and won most of what he went for. Wallace - 6 Better balance at left back and tried to get forward. Kingston - 5 Bit lack lustre from Larry today. Stewart - 8 Great attitude and controlled the midfield. Karapidis - 5 Didn't think he used enough of his presence to give the dog required in midfield battle. Driver 7 - Always a threat down the left but nothing much came off for him today and chose the wrong option too many times. Ksanavicious 7. Was having a bit of a miserable day, but very brave for the goal and to his credit didn't hide. Mole-9 Best I've seen him and would probably got a goal of Driver could have picked him out a couple of times. Miko -7 Has he been eating poridge? What a finish for the winner and a meaty challenge on the half-way line. Makela-2 Vey Dissapointing 20 minutes and thought he was at fault for their 2nd goal. Chesney -6 Looked lively when he came on

Acey
Really, really not. Many fans give "the young lad" a break, today he played as bad as Ksanavicius. He must have beaten the Motherwell RB about 8-10 times in the second half alone. Yes, his crossing was poor today. Yes, he missed a decent chance (as if Ksanavicius has never done that). He's still twice the player Ksanavicius is.

Yes, he missed a decent chance (as if Ksanavicius has never done that). He's still twice the player Ksanavicius is. Running in a straight line is a plus for a winger, doing nothing with it when he gets there is criminal. Mole had about ten square yards to himself in the box, a simple tap in and Driver swings his right foot at it. He also had an extremely wayward shot in the first half. His passing was also poor. Ksanavicius did much the same, however he scored.

JamboSean
Banks - 5. Never had anything to do apart from the pick the ball out the net. Silly booking, could have been sent off for pushing Quinn. Thomson - 5. Motherwell picked on him and it worked. Not up to it today, prefer Neilson. Berra - 6. Strong, did all he needed to do, no mistakes. Zaliukas - 7. Beats Berra just. A much improved performance. Keep it up. Wallace - 6. Pushed on a bit which was good, still not convinced by him. Kingston - 7. Was pretty quiet for his standards, still the best player we have. Touches of class. Stewart - 8. A great performance. Did very little wrong apart from a stupid booking. MoM. Karipidis - 6. Did well for playing defensive midfield. Tidy, but much better in defence. Driver - 7. Got past the right back countless times. Needs a little more confidence in himself. Tired near the end. Ksnavacius - 4. Garbage apart from the goal. Passing's poor, finishing's awful. Not good enough, never will be. Mole - 7. Worked hard and did a lot of running. Needs a striker up beside him though. (Ces) - 5. Did a lot of running but never got in to it. (Miko) - 7. Worked hard, took his goal well. Will be pushing for a start if he keeps that up. (Makela) - 2. He's awful. 2 is for being on the pitch.
Devries4
Banks - 5 - I thought he was pretty quiet today. Thomson - 5 - He will have to improve. Zaliukas - 7 - Ballwatched for well's first goal, but improved vastly as the gme went on. Berra - 6 - He has issues with Zaliukas. Wallace - 7 - Liked him today Kingston - 6 - Always looked like he was going to do something today. Stewart - 8 - Keep it up Mikey boy. Karipidis - 4 - Was he put there to see if we can let him go? Driver - 6 - Thought he did ok, and had plenty belief, just a tad greedy though. Ksanavicius - 6 - Good and bad, but was quickly the first to tire, should have went of 10 mins earlier. Mole - 7 - Can't put my finger on it, but deserves to continue. Subs Mikoliunas - 7 - Seemed to ooze with confidence. Beezer of a goal. Cesnauskis - 4 - Anonymous. Makela - 3 - Have we tried him at left back yet? Csaba - 7 - I think he made the right changes, apart from Audrey who should have come of earlier. Oh and Brines, 1 point for going against the linesman and giving Hearts a throw-in. Tried hard to get the Hearts players wound up.

Dazo
Banks - 6: Looked a bit shakey early on, never really troubled. Zal - 4: Similar to Berra but costs us goals, Wallace - 6: Done ok. Kingston - 5: Need more from someone with his ability Stewart - 8: Man of the match by a mile, still needs to control his aggression. Karipidis - 5: Chasing shadows. portobellojambo1
Thought I'd try something different and score it sort of maximum of 5 points per half (so some of those who came on as subs points may seem low, but the maximum on offer was 5). Banks - 6 - Nothing spectacular, nothing drastic. Thomson - 6 - 2 for 1st half, 4 for second. Still think we need a right full back of quality, but while the choice is between Thomson and Neilson it has to be Thomson every time. Zaliukas - 7 - Could have, imo, defended the first goal better, so 2 for 1st half, 5 for 2nd. Berra - 7 - 3.5 per half. Wallace - 6 - Did nothing wrong Kingston - 7 - Decent performance, seems interested again. Stewart - 9.5 - MOTM, super performance Karipidis - 6.5 - Not his best position but he broke up a lot of attacks and won a lot of ball in the air. Driver - 6 - Started off well, seemed to run out of ideas Ksanavicius - 6 - Not convinced, but he took his goal well Mole - 8 - Did very, very well, unfortunate there wasn't an out and out goalscorer there to feed off his hard work. Subs Mikoliunas - 4 - Did well Cesnauskis - 3 - Floated in and out Makela - 1 - Have given him one, just for getting his boots on, even though they were on the wrong feet. Super result, but still work to do in certain areas. But it certainly looked more like a team than individuals today.

The Merse
Banks - 6 - didn't have much to do. Not much chance at either goal. Thomson - 5 - pretty poor in all honesty, even Robbie is better than him. Berra - 6 - bit shakey at times, one attack where the ball was hit long he was running towards our goal and not looking at the ball and he lost track of where it was, could have been costly. Zaliukas - 7 - fairly solid performance. Wallace - 7 - looked good going forward, gave his man a bit too much time on occassion. Driver - 7 - very lively, end product a bit off though. Karipidis - 6 - didn't do much wrong. Stewart - 9 - Excellent performance, full of energy and sharp passing. Kingston - 4 - poor, gave the ball away far too often and felt he was horribly lazy all afteroon. Ksanavicius - 6 - would have been a 5 had he not scored. Mole - 8 - held the ball up well and worked his arse off, probably the best games hes had for Hearts. Subs Miko - Makela owes him his weeks wages, saved the lanky buggers blushes. Great finish, I admit I was screaming for him to square it though. Makela - pathetic. Cesnauskis - Indecisive as ever,

Audrey - 5: Credit for scoring, but otherwise poor Mole - 6: Worked hard but poor first half IMHO. Great second half though. Subs Miko - 7: Great goal, but also worked hard chasing back and tackling. Earned a start next week. Cesnauskas - 5: Did OK. makela - 1: His first touch is a shot. Groatallar
My ratings are as follows - Banks 5 - kicking poor and has to be more commanding Thomson 5 - terrible first half, was a bit better in the second (just as bad as Robbie IMO) Wallace 6 - reasonable but can play better Zaliukas 5 - played OK but marks off for being partially to blame for 1st goal Berra 7 - I thought he was commanding at times Kingston 6 - shocking at times but brilliant other times - always wanted the ball though Stewart 7 - my man of the match, out the game at times though and a stupid booking Ksanavicius 5 - brave for the goal but not good enough Driver 7 - brilliant at times but needs to improve his crossing Karipidis 6 - strange role to be given, done OK though Mole 7 - put in a power of work, unfortunately he never looks like scoring Subs Cesnauskas 6 - Pretty impressive when he came on Makela 2 - has he forgotten how to play the game? Miko 7 - even won some tackles and what a goal! I was impressed with our work rate today but we must get some more quality into the team. Motherwell are good going forward but unless they get their defence sorted will be no-where this season. I still think we'll be third but whilst I think there's been an improvement a good team would have gubbed us today IMO.
Pistol1874
Banks - 6 Thought slow to collect balls running through to him which was making me nervous 1st half. Thomson - 5. Early days, prefer Robbie. Berra - 7 Zaluikas-8 One of, if not the, best games he has played for us. Wallace 6- Comfortable. Kingston 6 - On the periphery too much today. Stewart - 9 Could be a big, big player for us this season. Great start. Karapidis - 7 Did well. Driver 6. Only decision making with final ball prevents an 8 or 9. Kind of important though. Ksanavicious 6. Worked hard, tired too early, needs to work on fitness. Mole-9 MOTM. Better decision making from Driver and he'd have scored at least 2. Ran all day and got into some great positions. Well played big man. Miko -7 Fantastic finish, great workrate once on. Makela-1 Put boots on correct feet. Chesney -5 Good team performance, best game at Tynie since Rangers last season. Most encouraging.
Martin_T
Karipidis - 4 Anonymous. Proved that his position is centre half. Driver - 4 Can't pass/won't pass. If we had dropped points today, his greed and awful shot with his right would have cost us a game. Gets less grief than Ksanavicius due to his nationality. Makela - 4 Awful performance culminating in giving away a goal with one of the worst first touches I have ever seen and wasting an excellent chance. bighusref, you normally come across as a reasonably credible contributor, but the above is possibly the biggest piece of nonsense I have ever read in 10years or so on Kickback. Driver the same mark as Makela? You are having a feckin laugh. I don't know if there is some personal issue with you and Andy Driver but if there is it is clearly clouding your judgement. Driver absolutely roasted Paul Quinn today, skinned him almost every time and got some good crosses into the box (admittedly we had no-one there to take them). This is compared to Makela who in 10 mins or so on the pitch, gave away a goal, fell on his erse a couple of times, worked less than Mole who had been on for 80 more minutes and never found a Hearts jersey once. The same goes for Karipidis 4??? I don't think he gave the ball away once today, added some steel into midfield and allowed Stewart to break forward more often. A 6 at very worst. Driver : Running in a straight line is not a skill IMO, once you run in a straight line, you need to A) cross it or shoot. He seemed to fail to do both of those spectacularly today. IF we had dropped points today, it would have been because of Makela selling a goal and Drivers greed costing us one. As for a personal thing, I honestly do not have a personal issue with him. He is a nice lad and obviously tries, I simply do not rate him as highly as some on here. As stated on another thread, he is about as effective as Ksanavicius IMO. Karipidis : I can rarely remember him having the ball to pass tbh. We played with a more defensive midfielder in our midfield today (actually, he WAS a defender) in an effort to add steel to our midfield. Far too often Motherwell walked through our midfield today. They were very regularly camped just outside our box, only their own inabilities failed to capitalise on this.
Snake Plissken
Banks - 4 He had 2 saves to make, didn't make them if he's our no.1 this season we could be in trouble, 2nd goal was certainly savable. Thomson - 6 Poor first half but better in the second, Neilson is a better option. Zal - 7 Ropey in the first half but came onto a game in the second. Berra - 7 solid. Wallace - 6 decent Kingston - 6 decent but he's capable of better Stewart - 9 ran the show in midfield today, great finish Karipidis - 6 a decent effort but doesn't look comfortable in midfield Driver - 7 looked dangerous, got past his man frequently and put plenty of crosses in - if his final decisions were better he'd be a class act (see what you can do Lazlo) Audrey - 6 has some god qualities but gets brushed off the ball far too easily, well done for the goal but faded in the second haf Mole - 7.5 very good shift up front, really did well in the second half. Subs Makela - 0 a holocaust of a performance Miko - 7.5 looked well up for it, cracking strike Cesnauskis - 6 did alright

Biko
Mole's movement was OK but needs to learn to attack crosses rather than wait for the defender to miss it. Larry cost us the first goal, just stood and watched rather than track back. Stewart was great but needs to cut out the silly bookings.

I think your points allocated were probably wrong.........but that is a perfectly reasonable account of matters - IMO. I also agree about Driver - fast in a straight line is a very useful attribute BUT on its own doesnt make a great player, needs to do more with the end delivery or shot. JAYEL
Banks 6 Thomson 6 Zaliukas 9 Berra 6 Wallace 6 Karipidis 6 Kingston 5 Stewart 8 Driver 8 Ksanavicius 6 Mole 6 Cesnauskis 5 Makela -1 Mikoliunas 7 Thomson and Mole both improved greatly in 2nd half Driver and Stewart both played really well today causing all sorts of problems for well. Not a lot from Larry today. Big Zal a star at the back. MOM Was hoping for Makela to come on for tiring Mole.......... Disaster !! A good team performance today. Hope to see some more improvement next week hopefully with a fit Nade and Obua in the team.
jayjay
Thomson better than Neilson? Get a grip Thomson is class one **** and not half as good as Neilson. You watched a different game from me pal!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but Driver was so far in front of Ksanavicius today i find it hard to believe anybody couldn't see that. Audrey is slow and gives the ball away far to much. Driver needs to sharpen up with his final ball, but was streets ahead of Ksanavicius.
The Rev
Banks - 6 Thought he looked steady throughout, kicking was good. Thompson - 5 Poor first half, slight improvement in the second. Wallace - 7 Thought he had a good game, looked good going forward. Berra - 7 Solid throught the game, looked more like a captain. Zaliukas - 8 One of his best games in a Hearts top. Kingston - 5 Had a poor game today, inefectual on the wing imo. Driver - 6 Beat the right back every time but his poor distribution let him down. Karipidis - 6 Played well out of position, won most headers he went for. Stewart - 9 Best player on the park toay, great finish for the goal, worked his socks off,my MOTM. Ksanavicius- 6 Took his goal well, a lot of slack passing though. Mole - 8 His best game for the club, did everything a striker should except score. Subs Miko - 7 Absoloutely brilliant goal and a tackle at the half way line to match. Chesney - 5 Offered something different than Driver, very good defensively. Makela - 1 Almost sold the game, at least it stops people saying he's not getting a chance, he's just had it and he blew it.
savage
Banks - 6 not too much to do today Thomson - 5 still think we need a right back Berra - 6 good game and more like a captain today Zaliukas - 8 showed why he is first choice, great game Wallace - 6 looks lighter and fitter Larry - 6 quiet by his standards Karipidis - 7 did a job Stewart - 10 showed what is required to play for the jambos 120% Driver - 6 would have got an 8 with a better final ball Ksana - 7 very brave for goal and although gave ball away causes problems with movement Mole - 8 worked socks off but still not convinced subs miko - 7 what a goal chesny- 5 not enough time makela - -50 the worst player in the history of football

Rick Grimes
Thomson - 6 Not a great right back, better than Neilson though. sorry mate, but that's seeing what you want to see. Thomson will never be the answer. Robbie has many deficiencies but he's still the best RB at the club by a country mile.
