Man Utd need to accept that they are a mid-table / top 8 team nowadays (see Newcastle). As soon that mindset changes, they can begin to look forward and enjoy their football again.

Not surprised. Man United's worst start in years. I wonder who the new manager will be? Not a lot out there.

ZZ first choice. Southgate an outsider

They've got the same problem they had when they had to replace Busby. Expectation levels give any new manager pressure to make things happen right away. They came close to sacking Ferguson, who was one result away from it.

Apart from Fergie, I cant think of anyone with less charisma or warmth. The players must be delighted to see the back of him.

God knows who they get next although Southgate would be hilarious.

The directors want that. It's an Emery board.

Villa just gave him a new contract, they knew United might come sniffing.

He spent £616.8m, half of what Chelsea have, but the majority of his signings haven’t been good enough. Most of them guys who played for him before so you would imagine they didn’t down tools.

Contracts can be broken obviously, would be a shame if he went there.,

Poisoned chalice and nothing more than a guaranteed payout.

They need to empty the high earners in that group of players, including your Rashford’s, Fernandes and Maguires’ for any success to come.

Mourinho was quoted as saying he fancied a shot at a mid to lower position EPL team. 🤣

They have been poor since SAF stepped away. I think he built them into a team that is regarded world wide as being great but are they that level of team? Personally I don't think they are that level now and who knows if the will be up there again. SAF built a team and then tuned it from season to season. That team has gone and now they are a collection of individuals.

They should genuinely look at bringing David Moyes back in tbh

Sacking him as soon as they did looks like quite a daft decision looking back now, as it's not as if anyone they've brought in since has really done much better - and some have done considerably worse!

Whoever came in after Fergie was never going to live up to his legacy, but over the last few years the regularity of the heavy defeats and absolutely dreadful performances - most recently the Spurs match - means that many people have just come to expect those sorts of result.

It will be interesting to see who they turn to next.

It’s the Ineos/Jim Radcliffe effect. Ineos bought Team Sky the dominant team in cycling, they’re now in chaos and not winning anything. Ineos became a sponsor of Mercedes F1 just as they went on the skids. Then he invested in Man Utd. The man is a jinx.

Interesting to note that out of Man U’s 20 league titles, only two weren’t won with either Busby or Ferguson in charge.

Emery would be a solid choice.

No chance he leaves the project at Villa where he has major input into everything for the shambles at Old Trafford whereby he'd be working under numerous individuals. He would be a very good target though.

and those two were won by the same person ernest mangnall. Thus all of man utds 20 titles were won by only three different managers

He had the worst record of any manager since Ferguson, the other guys have done better and nobody wants Moyes atm. He should never have got the job.
