Some cracking pictures above, never seen some of them...

Also, whereabouts was his shop?.....slightly before my time   :whistling:

On the Gorgie Road between MacLeod Street and the now Gorgie stand turnstiles entrance.

I thought it was on Gorgie Road but on the other side of the bridge from McLeod Street.

According to a JKB thread over 10 years ago, it seems the shop was 126 Gorgie Road

I’ve a VHS tape somewhere that was made as a tribute to him for some occasion or club. John Cumming moans about how lazy he was at training and never trying a leg.

You need to get that uploaded, if not already.

That’s the one. I think it was made for the Willie Bauld Dinner guests. I got a copy from a friend who worked for a filming company.

I was also at his testimonial, I've got two 'all time' heroes.

The 'King', and the original  'Mr Hearts.' John Cumming.

I also used to go into his shop, I remember he spoke to me once, and I couldn't answer him, I was too in awe of him !

I've said it before , and I'll say it again, we'll never see their likes again.

I share your sentiments totally. I was in attendance at his first match with my father, at that time I was 5yrs old, Although we emigrated to Canada and I did see him play over here he without a doubt is one of the greatest, I have ever seen wear the famous maroon. To add to that fact the respect from former teamates I have heard , is totally in line with how he is often portrayed, That of a Gentleman.
