Beautiful Future.

Thoughts?

Not listened to it fully just skipped through it but not their best I feel.

1. "Beautiful Future" - Very light and pop like.... not a fav

2. "Can't Go Back" - Good tune, not surprised its their first single on the album

3. "Uptown" - Very ambient

4. "The Glory of Love" - Again very pop like - depeche mode sounding

5. "Suicide Bomb" - Heaviest track on the album - dont mind it

6. "Zombie Man" - old Primal sounding -best track on the album.

7. "Beautiful Summer" - Good tune, ambient but nice riff - electro style

8. "I Love to Hurt (You Love to Be Hurt)" (featuring Lovefoxxx) -Electro - dark - good tune.

9. "Over and Over" (featuring Linda Thompson) - very very chilled

10. "Necro Hex Blues" (featuring Josh Homme) - more indie than any of the other tracks - lot more guitar sounding

11. "The Glory Of Love" (Single Version) - not a fan tbh

So, bit of a let down but its the primals so prob a must have album.

Any one else got it yet?

I didn't think it was out until Monday?

It's getting pelters in the reviews anyway.

Some of the new tracks sounded good at T in the P, Suicide Bomb in particular.

Your last comment is interesting as the Guardian yesterday claimed they will get away with it simply because they are Primal Scream.

Gigolo-Aunt

The Times savaged it yesterday. Of course it was only the reviewers opinion though.

TBH, they have been very hit or a miss (more miss though) since the wonderful Vaishing Point back in 97.

Never sounded that great at T-in the park from the bits I seen, not always a great watching gigs from the couch though.

Is little Bernie* still playing guitar with them?

*think that was the chap's name.

Its out there.... ;)

I'll probably still buy it for the collection but couldnt help my self when I found it for download.

Lot of ambient tracks which isnt bad but they dont do much tbh, sure they sound good live as Primal Scream have a sound thats always good live, lots of good electro and guitar riffs that will please crowds on big systems.

I think the album will grow on me.

Quite pleased with it.

Not quite XTRMNTR or Vanishing Point (which I reckon is their masterpiece), but better than the last two. More "atmospheric", and a bit darker.

Like you say, I reckon it'll be fantastic live.

I've only had one listen and not read any reviews but I thought it sounded a real return to form.

Very poppy.

It sounded good in the sun yesterday afternoon.
