As heir to the throne for most of his life, I expect that he's been getting very good health care.  If so, they've likely detected the disease at an early stage.

I would think that his chances of survival will be very high.

He certainly didn't look in the best of health around the time of the coronation.

Good luck Charles, long live the king.

Hope he has a speedy recovery and then announces the retirement of not just himself but the entire Royal Family.

A disease that regardless of class or wealth we are at some risk of. Here's hoping we're ever closer to the holy grail. Wish him all the best regardless of how I feel about royalty.

Yes, but in fairness let's not forget that you're more likely to get cancer and more likely to die from it if you're poor.

As a human being, I wish him well.

Indeed.  All the best to him.

No love for the Royals but hope he doesn't succumb to the big C. Although what condition can lead to his fingers looking like they do out of interest.

Let us hope so!

Additionally, being so public about it I hope raises more awareness of it and leads to many people checking earlier than they would so that they can get rid of it or lead longer lives.

Read that back to yourself.  It doesn’t make any sense, does it?

And, why are you bringing up his swollen fingers on this sad thread?

No need. Argue on the subject of the royal family on a separate thread if you like though.

Just read the Grauniad live blog. Apparently it's news that Lineker and Carol Vorderman have tweeted about it.

Anyway, best wishes to him and to anyone fighting cancer. It's the ******* of *******s when it comes to diseases.

Don't care about the royal family but feel for anyone fighting cancer. I'll save my prayers for people I care about though

Because his fingers have looked bloated for quite some time. And has been mentioned numerous times on this forum previously.

His fingers have been that way since his birth. His mother described him as her chubby fingered prince.

There is nothing wrong with fingers other than being fatter than what would be seen as “normal”

Zero interest in the monarchy but the guy is a human and I sincerely hope he beats his cancer. Its a truly horrible disease that's likely touched everyone on this forum in one way or another over the years. If not, it likely will.

Proof (as if its needed) that cancer just does not discriminate.

As has been said, this will no doubt shine a bright light on cancer in men, especially Prostate cancer.

As a man pushing 54 myself, I will be calling the GP this morning to request a PSA blood test. I'm embarrassed that I haven't been before this and a tad pissed off that there's no routine checks for men in their 50's similar to the shite check thing you get through the post for bowel cancer.

Horrible disease.

EDIT: (anyone else planning to do this should know that you cant get a PSA test done if you have ejaculated in the last 48 hours....I'll phone them tomorrow).

(edit)

But seriously, wouldn't wish the big C on anyone, so a full recovery is always a blessing.

Come on man. Son returns to visit his dad to support him through his diagnosis.

Would always take something like this to heal any rift they have.

Thunder and Lightning

Can we all just remember, the King nor the monarchy will see any of your negative comments or jokes.

But people on here (or their loved ones) battling this disease will.

Keep it nice or don't post it.
