Happy that Viaplay cover the OF ties as I don’t have it, and likely means Hearts will be on BBC - all good until we draw one on the OF! 🥴

Yeah over 30 years ago now which is terrifying. Horrible games and I absolutely hated their goalkeeper John Martin. An absolutely infuriating 'character'. 🤣

John Martin. God that’s right. Not a very popular character from memory I’m sure he was a miner but may be wrong.

these Hampden games were horror shows.

Comes up every time Hearts get Airdrie. I remember reading that he got no support either financially or through food parcels from the union as he was deemed as having another income (sweeties playing part time for Airdrie which wasn’t nearly enough to get by on). So he went back to work. I don’t know enough about the miners strike I have to say as was just wee!

On 22/01/2024 at 09:41, ehcaley said:

Absolute nonsense! he had attended the strike centre in Prestonpans where he got what every other man got,and he was fully supported by Airdrie supporters before he chose to go back,so he had more than most.He didn't go underground but worked on the scab coal lorry.

He was and will forever be a scab

That's the ****ers !

I've been in the car with him when he roars at them,  what a fright !!!

Scab Martin drove for them under police escort when delivering the coal.

He also grassed on his ex work colleagues who owned cars that couldn't afford road tax etc

How he had/has the brass neck to continue life in the same East Lothian communities after scabbing goes way beyond me.

Why are we always being selected by the beeb? Not complaining but it seems our cup games get aired quite often on council TV.

Not sure if you are being ironic or serious. This is the sixth year of Premier Sports/Viaplay coverage. In the 4th and 5th rounds and the quarter finals, they get first choice of 2 games. In the semis they get exclusive coverage of one game. In all that time, they have only once not used that to cover Rangers and Celtic. That was last year when they picked our derby at Easter Road in preference to Celtic at home to Morton.

So basically the BBC take what’s left and they typically go for a biggish club (Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibs) away from home in the hope of getting a “cup shock”. Ok this time they have gone for Motherwell away to Morton (as well as our game) in preference to Hibs away to ICT. But the pattern is pretty clear and it isn’t that the BBC love us!

Airdrie have been Bogey Central all my days.

Even going back to a cup tie 72 or 73, beaten 3-2 in replay at Broomfield.

Watching BBC highlights as a wee 10yo

I wish I’d be able to forget New Years Day 1981.  Hibs were in the 1st Division and we played Airdrie at Tynecastle. My pal and me had a good wee drink before the game and all was good. I decided we should take my pals wee dug, Spud, to the game and Spud got in under the turnstile nay bother. First half we were 2 goals up, spud was running about very happy and our fans were very good buying him a pie & crisps. I even bought spud a football card from the hut at the school end and Spud won a pound. Everything was dandy then it all went downhill in the second half we got beat 2-3. Yes we got relegated that year at that was the worst team ever in Hearts history. Does anyone remember Spud the Cairn Terrier running about the school end that day. I think we only had a crowd of about 8,000 that day.

I don't remember Spud but I do remember attending that game with a hangover which got a lot better by half time but a hell of a lot worse by full time.  That was the game I knew we were likely getting relegated...again!

It was a very depressing time to be a Hearts supporter, but at least that low ended with Mercer taking over.

Is this collection only? that is a pain in the backside for those of us nowhere near Tynecastle and no home game beforehand. The game is still 12 days away.

EDIT: Just done a dummy booking and no option other than collection. Bum.

i think it might  be a result of the dundee away game on saturday as there seems to have been a lot of tickets gone missing from the post office and people not getting there tickets

Which part hints at etickets being available??

80 mile round trip to fookin collect. What a waste of time. Simple QR codes emailed out like other events manage!!!!!

I clearly misinterpreted it then. Airdrie unlikely to have code readers I imagine.
