Martin was a scab, one of the worst who joined the UDM,currently stacks shelfs in Musselburgh Tesco.

Comes up every time Hearts get Airdrie. I remember reading that he got no support either financially or through food parcels from the union as he was deemed as having another income (sweeties playing part time for Airdrie which wasn’t nearly enough to get by on). So he went back to work. I don’t know enough about the miners strike I have to say as was just wee!

I saw something last night, not sure how legit it is, but apparently we're the Friday 7:45 game.

Our game away to St Johnstone is scheduled for the Wednesday night with tickets already on sale. Presumably would be moved to the Tuesday if our cup game was on the Friday? Not sure why all the league games couldn’t have been on the Tuesday night.

Could've been utter BS as it was a forwarded WhatsApp message, but we'll see I suppose.

Absolute nonsense! he had attended the strike centre in Prestonpans where he got what every other man got,and he was fully supported by Airdrie supporters before he chose to go back,so he had more than most.He didn't go underground but worked on the scab coal lorry.

He was and will forever be a scab

  Airdrie must have more than its fair share of pondlife.

Rumour has it that when Mel Brooks was casting for some backward bigoted hicks for his classic Blazin Saddles that he went to Airdrie.

So the ground holds just over 10k...their average attendance is something like 1500......surely they will cash in and give us as many tickets as we can sell....5-6k ?

This and the peach of a volley Sean Clare scored were my memories of this day.

The semi final replay in 1992 had only 11,000 fans ...7,000 hearts fans. I was one of them .

Henry Smith penalized for picking the ball up twice .

We hit the bar just before halftime with a glen snoddin shot . Equaliser in the 92nd minute with a Alan McLaren header and then Robbo hit the woodwork twice in extra time.

We didn't get much luck back then !

We didn't play well at all but they got really with us hitting the woodwork 3 times. Horrible night that was.

We won't be the Friday, I reckon 12.15 on the Saturday for us is more likely than Hibs given the distance of going to Inverness at a lunchtime. Although when has that ever bothered the TV companies.

Tough draw, they seem to be a bogey side for us especially in the cup, plus they are 4th in the championship and just knocked St J out in the last round so cannot be underestimated, play our strongest side and hopefully we should win.

We beat them 5-0 at Tynecastle quite recently thing Euan Henderson and Naismith scored. We seem to have learned to win away from home and with Shankland playing I'm pretty confident we will win there.

I love airdrie - people say it as it is rather than being up their own. Quite a few on here could learn big time from that. Hard game but looking forward to it

Yes, nearer Drumgelloch station than Airdrie. There is a good bar in the main stand  but that'll be home fans only I'd expect. Pubs in Airdrie can be very dodgy and Coatbridge has much better ones!

Didn't say I was offended by it although it does suggest a fan of a certain mentality and political leaning. What I do object to is monkey noises directed at black players!

Of course, 100% in agreement with that and thats where you could have amended your post and made the point there's an element within The Section B that make derogatory monkey noises towards opposition players. (What game did they do that?)

Absolutely no need to drag The Union Flag into the debate unless your head is in a mindset that proud British people are racist.

I had previously posted about the cup game at Tynecastle a few seasons back. One of my son in law was in the Airdrie team and my wife joined his parents in with the Airdrie hordes. She was horrified at the racist behaviour she saw.

As far as UJ's are concerned I don't like to see them at Tynecastle. It's OK to be a proud British person but why use a football match as a vehicle for that view? No wonder ignorant opposition fans call us "mini huns"

What do you think is the mindset of people who bring union jacks to football matches , particularly in Scotland?

That's the ****ers !

I've been in the car with him when he roars at them,  what a fright !!!

Scab Martin drove for them under police escort when delivering the coal.

He also grassed on his ex work colleagues who owned cars that couldn't afford road tax etc

How he had/has the brass neck to continue life in the same East Lothian communities after scabbing goes way beyond me.

Folk of all different political views, nationalities, religions and races form our community. No need for any flags save a Saltire as seen in our crest and in the logo to the top left of this page, if you must take one.

Airdrie does seem to attract the extreme end of the dregs though - wonder if the club has actively tried to turf them out?

That's my recollection also. The linesman flagged for Henry releasing the ball from his hands, to kick the ball up the park, just outside the box. Henry had a habit of getting too close to the edge of the box with the ball still in his hands. He got caught out, rightly or wrongly, this time.

That would've been a direct free kick. The one Black scored from was well inside the box and it was touched to him by a team mate.

Disagree. Its great to see Australian, Costa Rican flags. Fans have done the same for players of other nationalities.

Yes, I'd agree but there's a clear link with the players on the pitch with those and it is good to see. However certain flags are obviously there to express that person's political, religious or constitutional viewpoint - not needed at football as there are plenty of other platforms for those.

Strangely though, I haven't seen any Irish tricolours in support of various Irish players over the years...

I know there's a great deal of sensitivity in this country about games being moved for TV, but that's really not that bad.
