Hopefully Naismith has learned a lot about the Japanese two...simply not good enough at this (rather low) level. Time to free up two wages.

I don't think it'll be easy to off load them.

Was  a great interview and a good insight into his mentality.

Unlike some on here who wet themselves and throw themselves into a frenzy at any set back.

What did you want him to say?

" well after their goal I told the guys to panic, soil themselves,  shout at each other and run about like they are looking for a TV in a black Friday sale?".

Have Gordon in goals like this, shouting at the rest of the team?

kermit-panic.gif

He was asked what positives he could take from the game

He said that the fact that Spartans had men behind the ball, but that the players kept CALM, didn't panic, and tried to keep playing their way in was good

He then said that decision making and final ball is still an issue, in the final third, and that needed to be much better, and why things broke down at times

I sometimes think folk just make it up in their head and to suit the narrative at times in all honesty

Yip, his interview was perfectly fine, honest and fair assessment.

No idea why posters like that have an issue with the words.

They really do just make stuff up.

The lack of ideas in the final third is a worry.

It’s been so apparent we have had nothing behind Shankland this season. Fortunately he’s not been injured this far. It really is a shocking inditement of our recruitment team.

It is. I kinda see what he is getting at though, in that because the final ball isn't good enough, it would be very easy for the team to start trying to force it, or rush it, which they obviously aren't doing.

so whilst reverting to panic mode will just make things worse, and because we aren't doing that, will probably give him something to work with, and if the philosophy is getting there, but the execution is still a WIP

A win's a win. Others are struggling against lesser opposition too. It's always the same in the cup.

They never troubled us apart from two worldies that gave us a bit of a scare. Big Craig dealt with one of them...... as he does.

It's difficult to break teams down who sit in, so bringing Dhanda in now would be the best scenario in the absence of Mackay. Him and Grant can challenge each other for game time.

Oda and Tagawa can be moved on for me. Oda played as a RWB that didn't have to defend so not too far away from his normal wide position. Saw plenty of the ball but failed to deliver anything of note. The one time I saw him trying to beat his man, he lost it and gave away a foul. All in contrast to Lembikisa when he replaced him.

Tagawa struggled. No space for him to run into, but did he really burst a gut to get involved by showing short, making runs?? Contrast his performance to that of Vargas who wants to be involved and plays with a smile on his face. He has good touch and looks to link up. I don't see any of that from Tagawa.

If only we had money to burn and could bring Armstrong and Van Veen in to replace them. Not going to happen I know.

Both are under contract. I can't see anyone being interested in any of the two of them. Poor recruitment yet again by Savage and Co.

Both had a poor game. Oda still only 22. Another disappointing game by tagawa though. He's 24 and he's so safe in possession. Iv never seen a forward so scared to shoot. Bet ya forrest had more shots than him today and he was playing in midfield.

This has been the problem for a long time, no forward movement and slow play means teams get players behind the ball. In games where we have played fast and loose we score. Not enough players in the box so crosses are snuffed out. When teams sit in we must make changes to counter. SN said we kept playing the same way but it was obvious we needed to change tactics but no we still wasted too much time passing back and forth.

A win means we are through and at the final whistle that's all that matters but we really do need someone to back up Shanks. Can't understand the lack of interest in Van Veen.

The Old Tolbooth

The main thing is we’re in the hat for the next round, there’s no top flight side having things easy today after a winter break apart from Killie, remember the game against Auchinlek Talbot in 2012 when they had a perfectly good equaliser ruled out near the end and we won 1-0? That season worked out okay 😁

Can't really blame Tagawa for a poor performance.  There was zero space for him.

Up to the players to create that space, but Spartans just never came out.

Despite playing against the exact same defence and havimg the exact same amount of space available to him, vargas managed to be a threat and score a goal.....

Through. That’s the important thing.

But I’m not having the excuses for Tagawa or Oda. This is a league 2 side. If you can’t create your own space against this level of opposition, then I don’t think Hearts is the club for you.

Both absolutely pony and we are saddled with them for multiple years thanks to Joe Savage and his football manager approach to recruitment.

On a positive note, thought it was a decent game back for Grant and glad to see Vargas continue his scoring form. Was that Kent’s first goal for us too?

Yes the argument by their apologists seems to be that they look crap because the opposition are unsporting enough to deny them space and our players aren’t on the same wavelength as them. Poor souls, it’s so unfair!

Not sure what kudos the recruitment team get from the signing, he was passed to us by Davie Weir as Brighton had been watching him for a year before deciding not to pursue him.

Tagawa has shown absolute zero since he arrived specialises in hiding, he's not a footballer plain and simple and we've made a total rick in signing him on such a long deal. Oda is such a bottle merchant who refuses to take his man on and passes backwards at the earliest opportunity that said at least there is something there not sure what but something. Doubt either would get in the Livi team so just what we're doing with them in our starting line up is a total mystery.

Forfar was rough. Went home without scarf, lol.

Forfar is my earliest memory at a hearts game aged 6. I maybe went before then to a game or two but don’t remember them. Just remember my dad lifting me over the turnstiles and we stood in the old enclosure under the main stand. Then all I remember is hearts being absolutely rubbish and having grown men all around me shouting abuse at everything and swearing continually which was a bit of an eye opener at my tender age. Remember my old man not saying much on the way home and arguing with my old dear not long after we got back in the house. Should have known then it was a long, hard road down Gorgie way!

Amazing how all the other premiership teams cruised through and it was only us that laboured against 11 men behind the ball on a disaster of a pitch.

Who were the eejits behind the goal flaunting the Loyalist “Red Hand” flag?

Taking advantage of a televised match to reinforce the notion that Hearts FC is truly a “mini hun” club. Disgraceful.

I suppose these bams will be happy to see Shanks transfer to Ibrox, then 🤨

Yeah, I'm coming to the conclusion that both Oda & Tagawa  are just not suited to Scottish football.   Admittedly astroturf isn't a fair way to judge them, but even on grass their end product is poor most of the time.    Isn't one of them on a 4 year contract ?

Could be wrong, but its possible our recruitment team saw Kyogo & Maeda doing well at Celtic and assumed the J league was full of similar guys who would immediately adapt to the SPL.
