Christmas Number 1

39 years after its original release.
It would’ve been number one in 1984, if it wasn’t for Band Aid.
Am I correct in thinking that it was the best selling number 2 of all time?

Genuinely stuns me that they’re the only “act” to have achieved the feat.
Even the ******* Spice Girls deserve it more than those arseholes!

****ing dick Cowell ruined Christmas No 1. Ok he did stop Cliff getting there all the time  but he ruined the tradition of many a decent effort by bands.

It was until it made #1 in 2021.

Ladbaby was #1 in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Ladbaby was the Christmas #1 in those years but Wham still made it to #1 in 2021, twice in 2022 and for the past 3 weeks.

Brilliant song.

George has the best voice I’ve ever heard.  Only second to the wonderful Elton John.

The duos they did.  :sweeet:

It will never get the credit it deserves because of the subject of the lyrics but I think "Wombling Merry Christmas" is a great song.

"What Are We Going to Get for 'Er Indoors" is also an old fave of mine.

Really great song.

George Michael wrote some beautiful lyrics .

He really was a lovely , kind person . I still can’t get my head around why his life went so pear shaped . Tragic really .

Not many can attract the stars to a rehearsal and command a round of applause from it.

Gave me a different perspective on this classic! Still shite but I can now look back on it and smile, knowing that that wee girl really had no say i it but got some pretty cool memories out of it.  Wish I sang it!  Scrap that I wish I'd sung the following year's No.1, dont you want me baby!

I genuinely have no idea who Ladbaby is and I'm happy for it to remain this way.

I rather slagged this sickening song on Twitter by calling it a crime against music only for the grown solo singer to reply "I was only 7".

I felt terrible.

Not as bad as when I heard the song, mind you. 🤢

Thank the lord The Human League rescued the year later.

The guy was and is a treasure. Sad how it ended... Talent off the scale.
