Spellczech Posted December 16, 2023 Share Posted December 16, 2023 (edited) My nomination was something I watched the other night with Mrs Spellczech...the Christina Aguilera vehicle Burlesque also featuring Cher. Visually it is impressive. However, the plot is basic and the characterisation of the men (except Stanley Tucci whose performance is amazing - he can play such a broad range of characters and all wonderfully) is paper-thin and cliched... The love-interest guy's lines (every single one of them) are cringeworthy in the extreme, I mean so, so, so bad!...The baddie real estate prospector too - only there to hide that the main purpose was to showcase Christina Aguilera performing burlesque routines... Somehow they had Alan Cumming signed up in what should've been the perfect role for him yet they managed to make him bit-part (I assume he did more but it ended up on the cutting-room floor?) Despite it all Aguilera is actually very good. I'd watch it again just for the visuals but everything else is gash!
