Ok, I'm not very good at this so go easy on me.

I turned my PC on this morning hoping to get on with some work, and for some reason my spyware detector is shutting down pages that I'm opening (I'm not even sure how long I'll get to do this)

I tried opening my emails through IE and it shuts down automatically, and it's even shutting down Firefox too saying that there is suspicious behaviour at IP address xxxxx and that it's shutting down the pages because of it.

I'm currently running full anti virus and spyware scans but nothing turned up so far. I use Norton (I know it's not the best but don't know what else to do) and for anti spyware I paid ?15 for Max secure spyware detector 2.0 (I found a site which reviewed the best products for this and this one came out on top)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Suspicious network connection is what it's telling me, does that mean someone is trying to hack into my internet connection or do I have a virus?

Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

go to command prompt, and type in

netstat -a

That will list your open ports and what they are connected to

Right, basically just managed to get back online after having my neighbour work on my laptop for me all day long (very decent guy)

It seems I've been conned with some software that I purchased for to stop spyware stuff last year, it has picked up virtually nothing and he identified it as a phishing scam, so I'm ?15 lighter now

He then told me that Norton was pants and he immediately uninstalled it and replaced it with AVG 8.0 (free version) and then added Spybot search and destroy, and did various other things including some major firewalls (don't as me what!) and tuning up the programmes he added.

Anyway, the bottom line is that my laptop appears to be working superbly well now and seems a lot faster than before, and I now know what to do with the applications he added. I bought him a box of beer for his troubles and as luck would have it he said that he doesn't drink anymore and ordered me to take them away :D

Thanks for all your responses though, much apprciated.

It's probably working faster because Norton is a huge drain on your CPU, I hate them!

Glad you got your puter fixed though :)
