No greeting, nothing maudling, no tears or upset just folk celebrating your life by enjoying themselves. "Good night and god bless... now **** off to bed" as the man once sung. He's been a barely functioning alcoholic and more or less a hermit for that time. His health has been abysmal yet she stayed and did everything for him. As someone else said, it's a minor miracle he lasted this long. His wife is the reason for that. I was at a wacky religious funeral where the wife of the departed (they'd been married for over 70 years) was standing waving her arms, yelling hallelujah and all that bollocks, praise the lord etc and almost dancing as her husband lay 5m away in his coffin.
