Me neither. Certainly the commentators didn't know. They suggested that Douglas Luiz talked the ref into withdrawing the card and, ridiculously, that the ref showed the yellow card just as  warning that he'd show him a yellow card if he kept carrying on.

Love it when the idiot commentators don't bother researching these things.

… and neither did Martínez by the looks of it - asking the ref if he could go into goals.

I seem to remember a case years ago when a ref forgot that he’d already booked a player?

So, does that mean that Martinez is out of the semi-final, due to having two bookings?

Has 2 bookings. Booked in first leg too.

Presume that's a suspension. Robin Olsen decent too though.

 Cheers.

I wonder what would’ve happened if he hadn’t been booked in the first leg.

From the IFAB Laws of the Game

3. Penalties (penalty shoot-out)

Penalties (penalty shoot-out) are taken after the match has ended and unless otherwise stated, the relevant Laws of the Game apply. A player who has been sent off during the match is not permitted to take part; warnings and cautions issued to players and team officials during the match are not carried forward into penalties (penalty shoot-out).

The reason this was done was due to the foot on line ruling whereby goalkeeper is booked if makes save with foot ahead of line. Expecting more bookings had to try to avoid red cards.

Just counts as 1 booking tonight.

I think there’s something wrong with my BT Sports. I appear to have the sound feed from Liverpool TV.

graham poll at 2006 world cup booked simunic three times before sending him off during the croatia v australia match

Pretty boring game. So as good a time as any to remind people that Alisson Becker’s big brother is called Muriel.

Liverpool heading out. This game has been a big disappointment.
Fair play to Atalanta, they’ve played the game out well.

Repeat of last year’s appalling Europa League semi-final between Leverkusen and Roma, one of the worst displays (from Roma) of diving, cheating, time-wasting and general arseholery I have ever seen on a football pitch. Thankfully Mourinho is no longer around and Roma seem a bit more human under De Rossi.

Scary really as De Rossi was no shrinking violet.

English commentators really know nothing about the rules of the game in 2024 😆

Kane v Bellingham tonight.

Whichever of the two turns up best should be on the winning side.

Either way, it has the potential to be a cracking game.

I'd never have predicted Dier and Kane playing for Bayern Munich in a semi final.   Here it is though ☺

2-3

I’ve been really looking forward to this and now it’s arrived I’m sitting grumbling about both teams being in their away strips. I hate the way teams now have to give a certain amount of outings to each kit to keep the manufacturers happy.

Real quietly absorbing Bayern attacks.   Bayern need to score a chance or Real will.

Excellent pass by Kroos.   Top quality.    Junior is some player.   Great composure.

Meanwhile, Bayern struggling for the same killer pass and finish.

Vinicius Jr has scored in the Champions League semi-finals for three years in a row now.

Three players have done that before - Jari Litmanen, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin de Bruyne.

Rodrygo borderline penalty , nothing given except a corner.   Foul given against Bayern at the corner taken 😜

I think it was on the keeper.   I dunno.

Body slammed him to the ground, luckily on the ref's blind side, and VAR are never gonna say Hey, have a look at this!
