Virgin Media

Locky

Recommended Posts

Right, back in The Shed with another rant.

Myself and Lady Locky moved into a place at the start of September and she signed us up for Virgin Media TV and Broadband as she already had an account etc. All is good, broadband is perfect, no problems with TV etc. Money comes out for the first bill on October 4th.

Then, on Wednesday morning, we wake up to no services. She phones them wondering what’s going on and gets told she cancelled the Direct Debit on October 6th. First of all, not true, secondly, the money had already been taken from her bank so where is it? After a lot of humming and hawing, they inform her they can just re-instate everything in an instant, but she’ll need to pay a £25 fee to get it all back, which will be credited to the next bill. Fine, whatever, give us it back.

Lying in bed last night watching TV, and at the stroke of midnight the channels cut off as did the WiFi. She needs to phone them but I’m letting her sleep for now. Anyone ever had anything like this? What the **** are they upto?

Virgin have went down the pan the past year or so. We constantly have periods where the broadband disconnects and it goes on for hours. Always seems to happen when I'm wanting to play the xbox aswell.

Seems a joke atm. Are they gonna ask us to pay £25 again? Are they gonna then cut us off again in 2 days? I fear my lovely girlfriend is going to give some poor ****er a hard time.

Go absolutely mental at them, in a polite way. Send in a formal complaint, even once they've reinstated you. They properly messed me about when I moved home last year and I ended up with Sky Movies, Sky slSports, BT Sport, Premier Sports, La Liga TV, HD etc for 89 quid a month for 18 months because they had been such a shambles. I was ready to leave them.

It’s all on her as it’s all in her name but she absolutely will. That fiery weegie will come out in her.

The other day was bizarre but I put it down to these things happening. The exact same thing 2 days later is a piss take.

I'm a pretty easy going guy, but I lost it with them a couple of weeks ago. Contacted them a month ago just to add Sky Sports HD to my contract (no other changes), they offered a deal that was actually cheaper than my previous one, so all luvvly jubbly....until the "deal" kicked in and I lost just about every other channel I watched incl BT Sport!

Phoned them up and guy said he would get it sorted, then sent the usual feedback request immediately...but still not sorted. Now getting pissed off as the Fiorentina game was fast approaching, I complained and after speaking to numerous useless call handlers, I got someone who knew what they were doing and it was finally sorted.

The bint I'd first spoken to had switched me to a lower TV package to bring the contract offer down even though I hadn't asked for that, the one that sorted it put me back on my previous package and gave me the lower price due to their cockup. So worked out in the end, but the number of people you have to speak to before getting someone competent is ridiculous.

I reduced my package , i wanted rid of the land line, and he knew i wanted rid, still got it, seem to have

a problem listening , one morning a woman phones, you just phoned me, no i have not been on the phone, pulled

the cord out the socket, never to be used again,

Christ knows how you’re paying that much. I have Sky Movies, Sky Sports, BT Sports, maximum TV channel package and 300mB. Broadband and pay less than that.

Have you let it go beyond your 18 month contract? Prices jump ridiculously high after that. No matter who you're with for services you should be getting on the phone to them to 'cancel' after 17 months and getting their best deal to stay with them.

That’s mental. We’re £94 a month but that’s broadband and pretty much every channel except movies.

I have broadband and the tv pack. No sky movies or sports, but I have BT sports. I have a mobile phone deal, but that's peanuts and separate.

I suppose it depends where you live, i've not had many issues with Virgin's broadband (other than them ramming up the prices), any time it has gone off, it has gone back on fairly quickly, so not really arsed about customer service when i only really need to phone them every time my contract is up.

Support is utter shit.  They don't give a **** about their customers until they leave.

My landline got switched off and they sent a cable no more than a few inches to connect my phone to the router with no adequate instructions.

I spent half an hour two nights in one week.  First said an engineer would be booked and I would receive a text.  I didn't  so phoned up second time and was told it was in queue.  Two weeks later heard **** all.

I put a complaint through their website.  Its also been ignored.

To conclude - they are a conplete bunch of tossers and avoid like the plague.

To be honest they are all ****ing shit. Was thinking of switching to Virgin as it's just arrived here but have been seeing some very negative reports online.

Customer service at every broadband provider I have had has been shocking at them all.

Doctor FinnBarr

We can't get Sky in our house because of trees in someone else's garden blocking the signal. When Virgin laid cable in our street it seemed like a godsend and we were going to go for it until someone claiming to be our area manager stuck a handwritten note through the door questioning why we hadn't signed up as all our neighbours had. Spoke with neighbours who are all happy with Sky but everyone had received the same handwritten note. Ruled them out for being lying bassa's.

Right mood killer going off just as the 10 minute free views start.

Not had many issues with them myself. Had to use all of their contact methods when sorting out a new deal in June. Live Chat, Phonecard, WhatsApp. All pretty responsive amd helpful.

Ended up with one of their 02 Volt bundles.

1000GB speed Internet

Every channel including sports and 4K BT Sport.

Basic Netflix sub (£10 usually)

An extra box for Bedroom TV

Unlimited Data 02 SIM

All for £95 per month however £25 of that is the 02 Sim Card

We have 2 of the V6 Boxes but got an email a few weeks ago saying we can upgrade them to the new 360 boxes for free. Done that amd they sent out 2 new remotes and updated the V6 boxes over wifi. Much better and faster now. Can use voice search for a film/TV show or actor and it shows you what it's available to stream on or when it's next scheduled to be on TV.

I've been happy with Virgin in the near 18 months I've had them. 2 outages in that time (one just broadband). Full TV and broadband was down for 7 hours once and broadband for 2 or 3 hours on another occasion.

In my mind that beats the time my sky broadband was down for 7 or 8 days whilst sky played tic tac toe with openreach.

My broadband is also many many times faster with virgin than it was worth sky. For less.

That's pretty good going for all that, not sure why anyone needs 1000gb speed though!

Unless there's like 8 of you in the house all playing fortnite lol.

I love virgin. Absolutely no complaints from me. I pay £23 a month for the m200 package and constantly get more. This is the furthest room from the WiFi in my home.

I used WhatsApp to renew mine. 70 blabs for full package (sky sports/movies/kids/bt sports/Netflix/multiroom etc) and 1gbps fibre.  Another 25 blabs for mobile sim tied into O2.

Was paying 79 in total before for 600mbps fibre and all of the above minus Netflix so it's basically a fiver more than I used to pay once I negate the Netflix costs.

They first offered it for £105 and I refused but an extra tenner off it was enough for me. I'm sure it would've went lower still if I'd went through with the cancellation but hey, it's a decent deal and sky wouldn't get anywhere near it.

Big fan of virgin. Their router is pish, but I use eero and run the virgin unit as a modem. On an 18m contract for £46pm for broadband only. Was on m500 but they upgraded me 2 months in to 1gb internet. It’s been great so far, even better that the next best offering in my area is 75mb from Vodafone.

Not looking forward to inevitable negotiation when my fixed term ends. They’ve somewhat got me by the balls as my wife and I both WFH some days streaming video calls while the kids occasionally are both streaming Netflix.

Your options will improve. 75mbps was the best on offer elsewhere to me a few months ago but can apparently get 350mbps now.

You'll be able to bluff them as people will be leaving on mass and they'll do what they can to keep you.

Fingers crossed. Got until June next year before it's a problem I need to deal with. BT keep dropping leaflets about their broadband 'coming soon'. That would be nice!
