Be interesting to see if any of the foreign guys signed by Celtic or Hibs yesterday are in their squads tomorrow.

I see the Montenegrin player they signed is on the bench. He got his permit in just over a week, although he is an international player i believe. I wonder when KIOMOURTZOGLOU will get his?

He'll still be able to play in the European away games surely?

Goodness knows, I hoped he would be available for today, not that I'm aware of the process, you would think it would be cleared for Thursday tho.

Wouldn’t have thought so as he won’t be a Hearts employee until he gets his visa.

No problem for EPL players. Hopefully this will be sorted this week.

Aye, but we're dealing with the UK Home Office here remember. He'll be lucky if he doesn't find himself on a flight to Rwanda.

I posted this in the other thread, but I might as well put it here as well. Seems to be a total lottery.

I've been looking at some of the other foreign players signed in the Premiership this season to gauge how long it might take between signing and permit arriving.

Kyle Rowles 9/6 - 16/7 (37 days)

Elie Youan: 25/6 - 27/7 (32 days)

Bojan Miovski 28/6 - 22/7 (24 days)

Marijan Cabraja 13/7 - 27/7 (14 days)

Duk 15/7 - 18/7 (3 days)

Aziz Behich 27/7 - 10/8 (14 days)

The German midfielder is still awaiting a work permit to begin his career in Scotland but Hearts have ensured he is ready to play – both domestically and in continental competition – as soon as it arrives.

“He is registered for Europe so we are just waiting for the documents to come through,” manager Robbie Neilson confirmed to the Evening News. “When the visa comes he is good to go but we don’t know if it will take another day or another month. He is fit because he has been playing and training with his other club, so he is ready to go.”

It's probably a combination of factors.

Work visas based on required skills.

The level you are at in that specific skill set.

Brexit and no more freedom of movement (probably no. 1 in Kios case)

A lack of civil servants to deal with paperwork (refers back to 1 and 3 and prioritisation).

And then we get in to the real politika that a load of stuff getting delayed just now as a no functioning UK government and these pesky pain in the erchie Scots being at the bottom of the pile.

But more a Shed discussion.

Sky Sports running a story regarding Wolves attempt to sign Diego Costa.

He is a Spanish passport holder but due to his lack of playing time and the gap since he last played international football Wolves are going to have to appeal to a tribunal.
