Did Watt not sign a pre-contract? if so it was Courts who wanted him, probably a player and manager not clicking. I think it was pre Alexander's time at Motherwell when Watt was doing OK so it would be Robinson who got the best out of the player.

He signed for them in January so was very much Court's signing.

Watt-Zeefuik

I think Ross is a decent manager but he's looking more and more like Peter Capaldi from his In the Thick of It days.

I don't know Tony Watt and have no idea what he like as a person.  However it is clear that he is not great in the dressing room and he clearly lacks, focus, application and loyalty.

A reasonable point supported by evidence!

Strange how football throws up these talented individuals who just don’t seem to be able to knuckle-down and fulfil their potential.🫤

Liked this one from the boy as well.

Jack Ross remains unfazed on the sidelines as he remembers that a pair of slim tapered chinos he ordered from Zara will be arriving tomorrow.

Watt is an odd player. When he was with us, I actually thought he always tried very hard but had absolutely zero end product. Always appeared to be out of position in some sort of floating role in advanced midfield. Thought he could have been an effective striker for us, at a time we needed one. To me, thought he actually came across as a hard working player who ultimately did very little.

Really? I personally thought he was a lazy little shit. Watching him yesterday was akin to watching him with us. His technical ability was unquestionable but I just can't recall him actually ever doing **** all. One of those players who just frustrated the life out of you because he is such a waste of talent. According to Wikipedia he's only scored 74 career goals in 341 games. Wonder if he'll ever hit 100. Unlikely if he stays at United.

Tam Courts was doing a great job. Wonder why he sacked it off.

Courts leaving to go to a team who just avoided relegation from the Hungarian league will never make sense to me and has got to be one of the most bizarre moves I've seen in Scottish football. That said, United fans were surprisingly quite happy to see him go. Did a good job but apparently was awful to watch.

Watt had only scored 3 in 23 under Robinson. Once Alexander came in he actually hit good form. Hit 11 in 35 under Alexander. It's clear to see they missed him too when he left.

Players who play with their socks rolled down have to be good otherwise they just look lazy or unfit. The only player at Tannadice to carry off the look was Paul Sturrock back in the day.

Davie Provan, or was that just shirt outside shorts?

JC had short socks earlier in his Hearts career.

Yep. He’s talented no doubt but his attitude stinks on the pitch.

FWIW I think Ross is a decent manager. He was doing a decent job at Hibs and they probably wouldn’t be in the state they’re in if he wasn’t sacked.

Personality wise I’m not so sure, always comes across quite bitter about us, maybe because we pied him for the job I don’t know.

What makes you think that ?  Whenever he's been the TV pundit on a Hearts match, he seems ok about us - refers to our manager by his first name.     I think he's bitter about Hibs now, with good reason.    Top drawer management  by Ron & son -  wee Shaun lasted 3 months, wee Lee might make it past Christmas.   😉

ftfy.       Doesn't Scot Allan have his socks right down ?    Best example of the arrogant type is that Grealish with his  wee girly half-length socks.

But aye, Sturrock was class -  didn't seem bothered not having shin guards to protect him from animals like Roy Aitken.

Maybe bitter was the wrong word. It was just like he always tried to remain relevant in a weird way.

The top example I can give is when he was a pundit for one of our games and they were talking about Simms and he just had to get a point in that when he was at Hibs they were absolutely looking at him and tried to sign him but he was injured. Numerous times Hibs were linked with the same players as we had on our radar, after the event (McKay for example).

Must have missed that. 👍   Not surprising to hear  though - Hibs seem obsessed by us and the players we sign.    Our ex-players to become their coaches too -  Donald Park, Eamonn Bannon, Lee Makel, Grant Murray, Lee Johnson etc

I wouldn't be surprised if  JR was regularly at loggerheads with Ron's son when it came to recruiting  new players.   Must be tough being Hibs manager - any time you have a disagreement with their Head of Recruitment, there's only going to be one outcome.    Now its wee Lee's turn.

"Hello... Lee ?  Just to say, we've run the stats on this Shankland  guy you want to sign.  Sorry, but he's bang average, however we've identified  a much better player who ticks all your boxes - guy called Momodou Bojang.  Top notch, and under the radar too.   He'll be a goldmine for us in a couple of years, trust me.   Lee ?  Lee... you still there ?"     😃

Tony Watt seemed to have finally found a club that suited him, ie Motherwell but chose to continue his drifting about career. Strange decision to move when he did, money played a part I suppose but he will playing for someone like Raith Rovers in the not too distant future.

By all accounts it wasn't Watt who wanted to leave. Alexander didn't like him.

I mentioned yesterday that a few years ago, Scunthorpe turned down £4m for Kevin van Veen - Alexander was the manager at the time.

Sounds like his eye for a player maybe isn't brilliant.

This sums him up

'He's like a fourth child': Steven Fletcher on working with Tony Watt at Dundee United

Steven Fletcher plans to act like a mentor to Dundee United’s young strikers – but feels he has already become a father figure to one well-known forward at Tannadice.

I know exactly. Goes on to call him a man child. Been a nomad his whole career. Only decent spell was at Motherwell and United bought him for a fee which he hasn’t done much since.

Halkett took him out with a superb man/ball/everything challenge in the first half. Watt got up and was having a laugh with him. Seemed to be like that the whole game, I'd imagine he won't last long at Utd.

Not so much when you see who the Sporting Director is. Chris Doherty was previously at Dundee United and held roles within the SFA. 👍

TWatt a lazy player who thinks he's really good … sounds like Tom Lawrence!

Could they be related?

Strange comparison. Lawrence was literally unplayable some times at Derby - boy is a class act.

Tony Watt is pish and can't stay on his feet.

I see that Courts was summoned to a meeting with the Honved Ultras, in order to explain himself.  They're not happy.
