Been reading that Gavi has been stalling over signing a new contract too. Regarded as one of the best youngsters in world football, Barca have a decision to make if this gets messy. Get rid of one of their best players in recent memory for what can only be described as disgraceful conduct or do they place their faith and support in Gavi.

Pique is 35, but has 2 years left on his contract. Gavi is 17 with 1 year left on his.

 

With the the financial restrictions, Barca could only spend 25% of revenue savings if they are at the financial limit as they were last year.  The amount they can spend has gone up a little, but would go down again at the winter window.

 

It's a very difficult one for the club - I guess they'll have to see how things unfold before they do anything.

The woman who Gerard Pique allegedly cheated on Shakira with is not the mum of Barcelona team-mate Pablo Gavi, despite social media allegations.

 

Reports emerged this week that Pique and pop icon Shakira are on the verge of splitting up after the veteran Barcelona defender was caught in bed with another woman. But reports from a troll Twitter account on Thursday falsely went on to claim the woman involved was the mother of 17-year-old Barca starlet Gavi.

 

The rumour quickly gathered steam to the point where it trended on the social media site, but Spanish outlet El Periodico’s report, which was claimed as the source of the story, firmly debunks the claims.

 

El Periodico specified that the woman in question was in fact in her 20s and blonde. That rules out Gavi’s brunette mother, who is believed to be called Gavinin Anasi.

 

The report claimed: “The woman who could have put Piqué and Shakira on the brink of breaking up is a young blonde in her 20s. She is studying and works as an event hostess.”

 

It comes after Spanish media claimed the couple have been living separately for a few weeks after Pique was kicked out of the family home by the Colombian pop sensation. El Periodico’s report claims the centre-back is now staying in a bachelor pad and has been living a "party lifestyle" since the split.

 

Further reports claim the Spain international has been frequenting nightclubs with team-mate Riqui Puig and his group of friends, often returning home as late as two or three in the morning.

 

While neither party has addressed these claims, the report says that they are confident that the couple will split.

 

The journalist in question, speaking during a live video stream earlier this week, said: "(Shakira) has made the decision to separate. That is so. It has happened. That is why there is distance. Perhaps there is nothing left, but that (infidelity) has passed.”
