Tom Hardy’s Dug
Funny. I’ve mentioned Zone 7 about 4 or 5 times on this forum in the past year or so and no-one seems to have even looked into to it, or who is involved in it. Fair enough. I’m not a shareholder and stand to gain nothing but when we are a club that has had more injuries than the average or than it should have had in the last few years I’d have thought there would be some interest in something that would minimise injury risks…

Worked his way through the ranks at Hoffenheim finally becoming their manager at the age of 29 and since then went to RB Leipzig and now Bayern. Pleased he is doing well and excelling in coaching. I would imagine they will announce tomorrow the departure of Roger Arnott. It has been interesting to see the amount of personnel changes at Hearts since Joe Savage has come in. In recruitment, we have replaced our head of recruitment, brought in a new lead recruitment analyst, a new Academy recruitment manager. We have now sacked the head of the academy, brought in a new academy coaching development manager, a new academy operations manager, changed our U18s head coach (that was due to John Rankin moving to a new job.) We have now brought in a new sports scientist. And all these changes have come since the summer. Certainly is a big rebuilding job behind the scenes, hopefully it brings with it success. Our academy has not produced the amount of players we would have wanted and since that point JS knows what he is doing, and doesn’t seem the type to accept mediocre performance from anyone. obviously Arnott not up to the job. trust that the reasons for letting him go will be fully merited. Positive, in that that we are looking at the Academy in terms of turning it around, rather than writing it off 👍

So my guess is it's all part of the great master plan for a march into Europe and still hold our end up on the the Western front. Not all signings are players. Sports science is a key role in keeping the troops fit and injury free. I know a lot of folks think Sports science is all mumbo jumbo stuff, but just an aside on this I'd heard stories that Graham Kirk the Aberdeen Sport Scientist had a massive input into McInnis team selections for many years. Part of the reasons for thier consistancy for many seasons. A highly respected hard working and important part of thier backroom staff. Its my belief we are striving to an utra fit and healthy team to give us the 'edge' and this apointment is a positive step in my view. Footballfirst
Directors of football, sports scientists, performance analysts, video analysts, conditioning coaches, coach development managers etc. are all in vogue just now and Hearts have gone all in. None of those actually play the game so can't actually influence the outcome of any game once it's underway. The point I would make is that, unless the team on the park improves, then that investment will be questionable. Let's hope that, come the end of the season, there will be no questions asked about the cost of all the backroom staff at Riccarton. True story from just a few weeks ago. The head of academy recruitment at Manchester United was talking to Sir Alex Ferguson and bemoaning the fact that all these analysts were getting in the way of coaching and developing players, with all their stats and profiling of potential recruits. Sir Alex responded in his own inimitable style "Aye, if they had been around in my day, we would never have signed thon' wee ginger heided laddie with asthma" (He was referring to Paul Scholes). What’s your view on it FF ? Can it work for us … get SAF comments fully and the old adage, “too many cooks spoil the broth comes to mind” It’s fine having more layers of people in specialised roles as long as each role doesn’t interfere, or impact the next layer reaching its full potential Just curious more than anything ?
