I P Knightley
I was surprised to hear that he'd acted in 65 films as well as his music career. I'm forever grateful to Bat Out of Hell for sealing a job interview years ago. I can't remember the full context but the boss man in the interview responded to a conversation with, "It was long ago and it was far away." to which I replied, "It was so much better than it is today." I sometimes wonder what he might have thought if he'd genuinely just been talking about something distant that was quite old and had never heard the song... Carl Fredrickson
Loved the Bat Out of Hell album and was fortunate enough to have been on first aid duty at the Playhouse for one of his gigs in the 80s. Even then, due to his weight/drugs/drink he had to go to the side of the stage to have oxygen administered. Fabulous showman RIP
Jambo-Jimbo
Bat out of Hell was one of those iconic albums from my teenage years, bought it in 1978 IIRC, still have it in the attic. RIP big man and thanks for the memories.

Tazio
A few years ago a journalist from the Scotsman did a great review of one of his gigs in Glasgow. It was only after it went to press that they discovered the gig had been cancelled due to ill health. She couldn’t be arsed watching him so just stayed at home in Edinburgh. Haken
Bat Out of Hell was one of those albums that everyone seemed to have at the time, along with Tubular Bells and Dark Side of the Moon. His partnership with Steinman was just one of those things that seemed to click; when he tried to do it alone, not so much. RIP, big fella.
