Stagecoach,Lothian country and East Coast buses are taking trainees.

They all pay about the same. Stagecoach are only about 20p more PH. Piss easy job just boring as **** and the 4am starts can be a nightmare. You'll make between 350-400 a week on the buses but it's really really boring.

Is that take home pay as £18,200 - £20,800 pa  looks awfully low? A minimum wage job doing around 40 hours brings in £18k

Edit - to answer my own question

The average Lothian Buses salary ranges from approximately £30,108 per year for a Driver to £33,453 per year for a Bus Driver.

Dunno where you got those figures but that's about 10k shy of what's realistic, With OT at stagecoach I'm getting about 30k. You get guys at Lothian that allegedly earn 40k+

If buying a van and dogfood are your main input costs then probably worth being VAT-registered...

Who wants VAT added to their dog walking bill?

What HMRC giveth HMRC taketh away.

I’m sure hugging a few trees will get you on the training ladder.
