It looks like he's alive, thankfully. I've never witnessed anything so bad at football match. Credit has to go to the players around him who acted immediately and the incredible work of the medical professionals.

I know you didnt if ya had youd be like we are and absolutely brutalised. It was horrific to see. Just leave it on here and it can get sorted later. Your comments while not the best worded got taken out of context and its grown arms and legs.

Tone of voice is almost impossible to translate into text.

Mistakes are easily made.

Let's just leave it there.

Beginning to sound like good news.

I hope so but now is a vital time before he may need an operation and in case he suffers a repeat.

I came out of it then on ward rounds 24 hours later collapsed whilst the specialists were round my bed...timing was just so lucky and they managed to bring me back after resuscitation

They're like F1 cars, finely tuned and pushed to the limits. Their hearts must work so much harder than normal people's, it makes sense that they would be more prone to weaknesses being dangerous

I dont want to detract but the referee? The players basically screamed for medical assistance and no one was stopping them. Thank god for the players and the medical team maybe.

There is a lot of debate about being too low body fat and the effect that can have on too little visceral fat around the heart not protecting it much being as bad as too much visceral fat. Technically the scale of good is 1-12 , 13-59 (i think59) is bad. There is a lot of thought of 3to4 is optimum.

Looked like he was quite quick, mate? I mean those split seconds when you suddenly realize something is really wrong?

Sky sports news, now reporting that UEFA have said Christien Erikson has been transferred to hospital and be stabilised. Hopefully he is now on the way to a full recovery.

I suspect whatever issue he had would have been detectable by an angiogram, although you can't rule out an unexplained event caused by something like a virus.

Yeah maybe , im prob being grumpy as the media are going on about the English ref and I dont give a **** if he was from Mars. Lets settle on players , ref and medical personnel all being thanked for the speed of their reactions and realisation is was incredibly serious

I've seen people suddenly go down like that before in real life but it's always just been sudden fits.

That was scary enough.

Seeing the medics performing CPR on the pitch was chilling.

Transferred to hospital and stabilised.

That was one of the worst things I’ve seen on a football pitch.

Fortunately it’s looking like he will come through.

Thank god.

At a guess both teams will take a draw and a point and forget the game as its irrelevant in the grand scheme

Yeah, it can sometimes take a few seconds to realise that something isn't right. There's a whole "unreal" feeling in situations like that. It all felt surreal sitting here watching on tv.

Don't remember the words now but met a mate before a Hearts game a few years back and he was feckin pissed off with me.

I had no idea why.

Finally asked him what the problem was and he read out a text I'd sent him the day before. The way he read it out, intonation and no proper punctuation, it sounded awful and insulting.

I read it back to him in the jocular way intended and he instantly realised the misunderstanding.

Wish I could remember the words etc. but the point is that the written word, particularly if done sloppily, can easily be misinterpreted.

I don't know @Cruyff personally, btw, so have no ulterior motive for posting but feel it's worth putting it out there.

Thank God the news appears good.

I also noticed his team mates were staying close to where the medical staff were working.  It looks like they saw he was recovering and didn't want to leave that area of the pitch.

Without a doubt. What they have just witnessed first hand is one of the most horrific things anyone can see. The brutality of CPR doesn't leave your mind quickly, regardless of outcome and there is no way they will be in any fit state of mind to play a game of baw.

He looked awake when leaving the pitch going by some images. Hopefully got painkillers pretty quick because not just a painful heart but broken ribs too.

Are they able to just reschedule like that ? The whole tournament is a very tightly scheduled event, wouldn't Finland have to be traveling to another location for instance ?

Not sure that you can predict when someone is going to have a cardiac arrest, they are sudden events and can happen to anybody at anytime.

The BBC (Radio 5) reporting it too. Fingers crossed for a happy outcome. Distressing thing to see and thank goodness for all the medical help on hand.

Unfortunately top rate athletes whose bodies are stretched to the limit are vulnerable to this at any time, even if fit and healthy.

They were blocking off the medical staff working from the front rows of fans - before the screens went up. Trying to prevent upsetting people even more if photos got out. It is a normal thing when such terrible things ha[[en happens

We'll get the official statement from UEFA in about an hour.

With teams having to travel large distances and there being barely any time for a re-play I can see the match being called at 0-0.
