Sadly I’m old enough to remember even worse.

Best of luck to Daniel. Will be a massive challenge for him trying to get his ideas over to a team that is made up presumably mostly of French speakers.

How do you know so much about a 2nd tier French team?

They’ve got the same owners as Barnsley FC.

Yeah, i saw that but is it the same recruitment team etc? Or have you just taken an interest because of that?

Yeah i read somewhere it’s the same recruitment committee for all 5 clubs. And all 5 clubs play the same way, so they’re always analysing the same type of players.

I thought that was one of the reasons he cited struggling in the championship? As on they sold best players and they signed youngsters?

Them youngsters are playing in a championship playoff game tomorrow, they struggled for half a season then kicked into top 6 chasing form for the past 18 months, you can’t bring in 16 new players and expect them not to need time to settle in.

Best wishes to Daniel. I’ll be watching with interest to see how he gets on. Needless to say I’ll not be surprised if he is a success.

Ok just thought that was a reason that was banded about why he struggled second season. Good luck for tomorrow 👍

If he turns out to be a success at Nancy, it won’t prove anything about what he could have achieved with us. He had his faults, not changing his high press for a more pragmatic approach to get us far enough up the league certainly being one of them. However, he came into Hearts at a bad time for him and under the crazy circumstance of having the previous coach hanging around the corridors. He only had the January transfer window, which is a notoriously difficult to get good players in, and had to gamble on a couple of players who didn’t show anything.

Who knows what went on with Levein still having the ears of disgruntled players who had their holiday camp regime abruptly stopped. The body language of Berra when Stendel met the players was disrespectful at best. The club captain remaining seated when he should be up introducing himself and then the players to the new manager was not a good look.

It may have been a chance to change the malaise of lacklustre performances that have plagued us over the last few years. We’ll never know, but for Levein to suggest that the state of the playing squad that Neilson inherited was down to Stendel was a disgrace. Levein should be ashamed to try to shove all the blame onto Stendel, who sacrificed his wages to help others remain employed at Hearts, whilst he still took everything he could.

My feeling on Stendall was it took him far too long to get up to speed. In his first few matches we used about 25 players more than some teams such as Arsenals invincibles used in a season.

When Duncan Ferguson took over at Everton he simplified things and got the players playing for him and got some good results. Stendall did the opposite and complicated everything and we especially struggled to defend zonal at corners.

From the second half of the Hibs game onwards there was signs of improvement and some great results against Rangers and Hibs.

On the inside Tynecastle programme he came across as a bit of a weirdo and I suspect this was the main reason Ann got rid of him.

Is Anne budge a hibby seriously is she ?

Keep a manager who seemed to be taking a long time to adapt to the league, or get one who is a specialist at getting promotion from the championship? I think Stendel would have adapted but was it a risk worth taking?

His ideas were good, but he did not have the time or the quality of players to make them work. (It was not all down to Mr Careless Hands.)

I don't think he really got Scottish football, either.  And perhaps his understanding of the English language was not as strong as it could be in the particularly situation he was in.

Pish manager who managed to make a pish poor Hearts team even pisher.

Responsible for one of the most awful woefully inept displays from a Hearts team Ive ever borne witness to v St Mirren.

Good luck to Nancy as you'll need it.

Good luck to the guy, wish we had the balls to give him a proper shot with the backing the present incumbent has been afforded.

They were once 3 up with 5 minutes to go but conceded three times. One of those Nancy drew mysteries

Dont think in a game where it mattered the most, away from home with a large backing since Dundee in 86 have we played so bad and failed.

Maybe the 96 Cup final or the 95 semi vs Airdrie.

St mirren game was massive at the time.

I mean it couldn't because he's never managed before or since he left us. plus he was in Scottish football when he first became a coach.  cathro was a total failure and he was given a lot longer than Stengel.

People seem to feel the need to take diametrically opposing positions in every debate these days.

I wish him well, he seemed a good character, the team played really well under him in some games and equally poorly in others. I don't think he had anywhere near enough time at Hearts to properly assess what he could have done with a longer term crack at the job, but in his short time there were positives and negatives.

On balance we made the right decision to replace him.

Good luck to him, hopefully their owners will give him longer than 3 months to help sort out any problems. It will be a breeze compared to the shit show he inherited here.

We were poor when he took over but by the time he finished we were clueless as well as poor.

It's impossible to justify him keeping Pereira in goal so long. The teams confidence was shot to pieces because of his decision on the goalkeeping situation.

Doyle was.  Zlamal also shite.  Difference was Stendel brought none of them to the club in the shape of moulding a side.  He was left with utter dross and Levein was only sacked as it was relegation form anyway otherwise he would have still have been kept.  He tried to get Gordon back and signed this season player of the year with one hand tied behind his back and Levein still kicking about as a makeshift Janny/Sports scientist/ doctor while he was trying to mark his stamp with the squad, we even took ages brining him in then his coaching team instead he had to work with Ulster Andy, the woman’s coach now.  He’s the one manager in recent times that didn’t get a fair crack at the whip, probably since Robbo and then Burley.

Hi Scott 👍

This post of yours, coupled with the reply to me on the Doyle and Pereira thread, referencing Kenny Garland, has me thinking that you are either:

1. :hobofish: fishing for bites

or

2. On the wind-up

How am I doing?  🤷🏿‍♂️

No fans witnessed any games this year? I know it's been ******* awful and barely resembled football at times but I've certainly still "borne witness to" many games via the wonders of television and the internet.

Or if no-one was there to see it, did it really happen? Does that mean we have to play in the 1st division next season?

Ach you're trying hard but the problem you've got there is that you dont know what games (if any) Ive watched this year.

You seem to want the attention so have one more go...
