Part of the backroom team when I was first attracted to the club in the 80s. Played a big part in the hauling the club from near penury and ridicule to being a top rate competitive force in less than 5 years.

RIP Walter and Thanks Very Much for all you did for Hearts.

Pretty much this for me also. Rip Walter

Surprised the club have said nothing of Walters passing.

Hope they will at least mention his massive contribution in reviving hearts in the 80s along with doddie and sandy jardine

Sad to hear this. I met Walter on a number of occasions - he was a thoroughly nice guy. RIP.

Know him on nodding terms,we grew up in the same area.Remember I was waiting outside east end park on a player,i was travelling with,

He was coaching at Dunfermline at the time,he saw me and asked if i needed a lift, told him i was ok,but thanked him anyway, good lad, credit to his profession.RIP.

As has been mentioned by many the main memory was of Walter crossing balls for Henry and often in games Henry would command the full 18 yard box. As a fan the crossing and catching pre-match was worth turning up early to see.

I dont think I ever met Walter but I am ever so grateful for his input along with Sandy and Doddie in restoring pride back into our club.

RiP Walter.

Disgrace. East Fife, Dunfermline and Arbroath have all paid tribute.

Sad news.

Him, Alex MacDonald and Sandy Jardine turned Hearts from a joke club into a competitive, professional club.
