Pele, Argentina and the Dictators

Up on the iPlayer now,  you can watch this impressive documentary Pele, Argentina and the Dictators. 

 

Brazil was mental enough IN 1970, but Argentina took it to the next level. For Argentina '78, Jorge Rafael Videla took it to another level. He built a media centre for the World Cup  and forgot to put in telephone lines, so removed telecommunications from all the houses in the neighbouring district. The documentary also goes deep into the 6-0 win against Peru: I don't think Videla told Peru 'may the best team win!' It's a beautiful documentary, concise and full of wonderful colours and memories of sport and politics in the 70's.
