Does his contract not finish at the end of the season?

He could cancel it and walk away and save us some cash surely.

Clevid did with his head held high

Kudos to Levein and Macphee for accepting the wage cut. In fact they both can do one better and feck off altogether. That way the players who will be impacted most will be able to get a little more help.

Haven’t seen the latest but it’s really disappointing that CL hasn’t done the right thing and walked away. I’m surprised and embarrassed for him.

Great post and quite scary that Billy Davies has him sussed.

Davies wasn't the only one to suss him though.

This Virus could be good in the respect that when his contract ends, and there is still no football, there will be zero need for Budge to keep him. ( hope this ends before that but I doubt it will )

Levein’s stock has dropped so much in the past 18 months. He’s gone from a legend to a leach on the club.

However, the saddest part is that this week has proven that even players on short term contracts like Clevid Dikamona care more about the club and fans than Craig Levein.

Yeah noticed that myself. Will Clevid's critics  now get off his back. I always had a soft spot for the big man.

Maybe folk don’t know the whole story, ever thought about that?

He is destitute due to gambling debts? or because has heroically donated his entire personal wealth to the club and needs the money to live on?

Seriously what on earth could "the whole story" be?

Yeah I had misgivings at the start and wanted him out from the point we didn’t push on from the 4 nil Celtic game, doesn’t make me fell any better about the mess he’s left. The point was someone like Davies, who talks about himself in the third person, could see what Levein was all about.

Good point, and a few other alleged PHM at the club.

Aged 55, he'll surely get a large pension from the Club until he expires, considering the wage he has been on, after he finally walks?

Don’t be embarrassed for him as he’s clearly not. He’ll have plenty time to polish his brass neck when he’s self isolating

Zero need? The virus has interrupted the important work of completing the reorganisation of the football department where Craig has a lot to offer.

Wouldn’t think so. He has only been there five years.

I thought you were kidding there. Why does something he created need reorganised? He has been an utter disaster in everything he’s touched, why would anyone want him to reorganise anything? What do you think he is actually doing that any pen pusher couldn’t do? I’m sure our new Sporting Director will need to change it all anyway.

I don’t think people who work for the club receive pensions but I could be wrong.

I think he is on about £185k pa before the 50% voluntary deduction. He may well be on some kind of Director's Final Salary pension scheme or equally likely made no provision/contributions to persue his other interests, instead. Who knows?

Pieman did well apparently although admittedly he was at the Club for about 10 years.

He isn’t. Pension payments in annual accounts are not significant. In any case it’s impossible to build any sort of pension pot in five years.

How long has he been in well paid jobs?

You can build a pension.pot even if your employers scheme doesn't provide one or much of one.

I know that. I was responding to the posters comment that he would probably have a very lucrative final salary pension from Hearts which isn’t the case. Levein may have probably maxed out on his managerial pension pot as well as having any pensions he built up whilst a player though he has probably been  already drawing those down for a while.

Every employee at any business MUST by law , be offered a pension . They can opt out but the employees contribution is doubled * by the employer making it attractive.

* Approximately

I suspect he has. Don’t know though. Would have been really silly to have ignored the opportunity in his early career years. The tax breaks have been enormous so I can’t believe whoever has been advising him for the last 35 years would have let him make mistakes like you suggest.

Gambling is a destructive addiction, he’s made millions but who knows what he’s done with it. It will be interesting to see what he does in the future, can’t see him on Sportscene or BT somehow.

Not really interested in what he does in future. At his age, given his health issues, almost certain he will retire from full-time employment. As you say no-one knows his financial situation and that’s appropriate. He could be a winner at the bookies. He could also be the owner of a very fictitious reputation as a big gambler. He could be in debt up to his ears. It’s all just speculation.

He will be able to apply for Doctor, Scientist, recruitment specialist, Brain surgeon, boxing coach or probably take over from Alan Sugar on the apprentice based on the positions he’s been getting within the club based on absolutely **** all 👍

In all seriousness and rage out the way Levein would be a loss to football if he wasn’t in the game in some aspect. I don’t think his ego would allow him to take a step back though.

He is a gambler that’s not up for discussion, it’s a fact. Nobody is a winner at the bookies, bar the bookie. His finances, who knows.

50% cut?

Lets be honest, the only pay cut that is palatable for most Hearts fans here is 100%.

100% is not enough. He should be paying back some of the cash he robbed from the club due to buying duff players.

When Robinson came in the club was about a million in debt, which was underwritten by Mercer, as i recall.

When Romanov came in we were about £23,000,000 in debt on the verge of selling the asset to cover the debt. Romanov took that on, and then went on to spend millions on the club bringing in players that we could never have afforded without his funding, over £60,000,000 has been reported. During the process of his ownership he reduced the debt, but alas when the finances of his bank collapsed... we were left with a debt said to be £25,000,00, only £2,000,000 more than when he took over. I don't believe that Romanov sold us down the river, indeed had his bank not collapsed.. who knows what would have happened, we might be on our 100th Manager in years  🙂
