No-one knows the relative risk but most of us are long enough in the tooth to have experienced so-called experts whether it be World bodies, economists, politicians warning and forecasting about everything under the sun. Given that 0.005% of the Chinese population have been affected and they say it may have peaked there, forecasts here about 80% of the population getting it are quite clearly nonsense. Perhaps they are trying to frighten the minority of the people who still don't follow basic hygiene practices in terms of coughing and sneezing etc but the rest of us can make our own mind up about the relative risks. That may change but with millions of people passing through London daily, from every part of the globe, and 40 confirmed cases in the UK as a whole, most of us look at a common sense approach at this stage. highlandjambo3
Thing on tv this morning saying we are going to be swamped by English holidaymakers this summer as people won’t be going abroad. People like to get their summer holidays booked in March/April time and, travel agents are currently not doing so well.........being self employed in the hospitality & tourism trade...... bring it on.......face mask worn of course 😁
manaliveits105
Masks should only be employed by people who have the virus to stop them spreading it and by health professionals who are treating them and not the bufties who are buying up the world supplies to swan about in them - they are of little use as opposed to washing your hands. joondalupjambo
The London suits are saying that there will most likely be a 12 week window where it is at it's worst. No doubt priming folk for next weeks decision which will be no social gartherings of 5k or more. So that would be sporting events with football front and centre. Rather than play behind closed doors or end the league could we not let 4750 attend home games and have a ballot for the seats? Just thinking of us here and other clubs who easily get over the 5k. I know that's the threshold France are using, but 5000 does seem rather arbitrary and on the high side. Contact tracing such an event would seem just as impossible as a 50000 event. It's 1000 in Switzerland. Edited March 3, 2020 by Frankfurter
