A Boy Named Crow Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 I don't really get excited about Bond films these days, but then it is a format of film that will be 58 years old this year. As others have said, there are newer, fresher franchises out there. Having saud that, I do want to see this one before anyone tells me about it...clinging on to the hope he might die this time... Pans Jambo Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Exactly what a James Bond movie should be...lots of outrageous action scenes, loads of hot ladies, beautiful locations, suspense, a brilliant baddie and then Bond wins in the end. Complete popcorn movie. There's Schindlers list and The Pianist for those who want dark and serious! Quote

Martin B Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Huge Bond fan growing up. Had the full VHS boxset and went to see every new one at the cinema. Totally done with it after No Time To Die. You don’t kill James Bond! Would rather they just didn’t make another one now. Would maybe watch a spinoff around Q or the 00 agency. Quote

Plot, Gets a mission, goes into a casino or bar, asks for a Martini "shaken not stirred", meets the lassie that he shags at the end by introducing himself, "names bond, James Bond". Spies on bad guy who will be a bit eccentric or will have something mentally wrong with him. He gets found out, it goes tits up, he gets back into his Aston Martin, has a massive car chase, presses loads a buttons and the car does some cool tricks. He escapes either by plunging into the water and his car becoming a submarine or flying of the edge of a cliff and his car becomes a plane. Goes back to HQ, tries out some new gadgets, gets a row from Q, flirts with the secretary. Hunts down the bad guy again, gets captured or they have a Mexican stand off where they say some clichéd bullshit. Loads of shit blows up, he kills the bad guy, shags the bird he met at the bar. Credits roll. Saved you about £8 quid 👍 I played the bond theam tune in my head at the end! Quote

I P Knightley Posted February 21 Posted February 21 2 hours ago, Hansel said: Is that who broccoli is named after? 🥦 In the future, Bond will be up against the yanks as well as the Ruskies. It was a distant relative of Cubby Broccoli who invented the vegetable; a couple of generations older. That's what gave the family (& Cubby) enough money to go into movies. Back on Bond movies, it's now 4 years since the last one was made. At least another two before another comes out. I'm guessing that six years must be the longest between any two Bond films? I'm not saying I've ever been on tenterhooks waiting for the next instalment but Jason Bourne did Bond better than Bond over the last few movies, so I guess I'm now completely "meh" (if the young people still use that term) as to when or whether we'll ever see another James Bond and who might play the lead character. Cruyff has the formula completely off pat. In the years before we had Ask Jeeves, a colleague left an A3 sheet on the table by the coffee machine for folk to fill in the components of the formula for each film: * Which actor was Bond? * Who was the baddie? * How did the baddie plan to take over the world? * Where was the baddie's lair? * How did Bond escape from the baddie when the baddie had him secured but insisted on telling Bond his plan before leaving him there rather than just shooting him? * Which actress was the love interest? * Who got pumped by Bond before he and the love interest got together? * What car was used? * What gadgets did the car have (and other Q gadgets)? * Where was the final scene (where Bond pumped the love interest)? And a few more tropes. It's more like pantomime than a serious film franchise. Quote
