RobNox
13 hours ago, Dagger Is Back said: Unbelievable effort and with 5 days to go we're now just £20 short of our revised target. We received this note from Carol today. We are working with a client who is on a zero hour contract. She is coming out of a domestic abuse relationship and was referred to us by Womans Aid, working with our advice work She is not entitled to any benefits as she is fit for work. However she is at risk of homelessness as all her pay goes towards her rent. Once she has paid rent and council tax she is left with £32 per week to cover all other bills. We are supporting her by giving her access to our advice worker who is trying various ways to maximise her income. Our employability worker is working with her to try and get her a job with guaranteed hours and we are giving her weekly food parcels to try and get her through to pay day All well and good, but surely the most important question is, does the client support Hearts? Seriously though, it is heart breaking to think that there are so many cases like this, and so many other people living rough on the streets. Carol and her colleagues do a tremendous job in helping to support vulnerable people of all persuasions.
Dagger Is Back
Folks, now that we've hit our revised target, we've decided to close down the donating option. Our JKB Board have very kindly offered to add £500 to the final total which means we'll be sending £2500 to COSS. We're just amazed at the response and kindness of folks, and grateful to everyone who supported this very worthwhile cause, whether you donated here or donated food items on the day at Tynie, or via The Diggers. Your support will make a massive difference to people in need in our community, no matter their religious beliefs, race, creed, colour or indeed, what football team they support Thank you everyone
Dagger Is Back
This tonight from Carol at COSS " We at the foodbank are completely overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who has donated to our cause. Every penny shall be spent in providing food and support to those who need it the most. Thank you so, so much."
