For all that they skoosh qualifying and occasionally get to a tournament semi final, they've won nothing since 1966 while all of their competitors and some much smaller nations have, at least once if not more. They haven't even been in a final. That does make them the biggest underachiever and most over-rated side (by themselves) in planet fitba, especially considering their size, wealth, status as the country that helped invent the game (along with us of course) and their domestic football league. Brighton Jambo Posted September 10, 2019 Share Posted September 10, 2019 I think England are slowly improving and seem more of a team than previous versions that had better individual players. i don’t think the players are as dislikable as previously and Southgate will keep their feet on the ground and seems very popular in the eyes of the players. I dont understand the poster above who says that on paper they should be winning Euro 2020. Frances and Belgium’s squad are massively superior and the Netherlands and Spain are very good. No, not winning anything or even getting to a final since 1966 does that. Considering the pool they swim in - Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, etc - and then factoring in that the likes of Greece, Denmark, Portugal have won tournaments and got to finals and others like Croatia, Czech, Belgium, Russia, Yugoslavia have got to finals.
