Because got and gotten mean the same thing, gotten is an American word and most of us aren't American. It means the same but has three more unnecessary letters, wastes typing time and effort. it's not as bad as 'of' instead of 'have' though.

Isn't ill gotten gains a well established UK English expression?

It’s in the dictionary and sounds better in some sentences 👍🏻

13,000 by the end of this month followed by champagne football in August.

That's what we need.

A Decent points return from our first 3 games could certainly entice some doubters into getting a Ticket.

The use of ‘of’ instead of have makes me squirm. It’s very widespread and often by people who really ought to know better. Grim.

Good one It’s very prevalent in the West, where I’m originally from. Anyway, let’s not hijack the thread. As far as I know there are no grammar tests required to be a Jambo ;)

Season tickets sales do well when fans believe in the manager and the players. Anyone who doesn't believe this lives in a world of make believe.

I sometimes type would've which is more acceptable by far but still not right.

Now't wrong with would've as that's simply a contraction of 'would have'. 👍

Is that the type of world where Hearts always play free flowing attractice football, win the league every year and have 20k season ticket holders?

Speaking of contractions, why was am not (amn’t)  never  contacted the same way as isn’t or doesn’t? Always told off at school for that one... although interestingly, my spellchecker has let it slide just there.

I'm a world were the corners are filled in.

Need space for the away fans.

I'm longing for just a couple of months ago where we're playing Celtic in the Cup Final.  Take the lead after 60 minutes and Celtic are awarded a penalty just 3 minutes later.

That's  the world we know.  We get at least 3 weeks seething in and it gives us something to do.

Right now we're reduced to worrying if Tynecastle Boys Club have ruined our season.

Thank God for Shane Lowry.

Difficulty of pronunciation, I'd wager. 'Mayn't' passes my spellchecker but 'amn't' angers it, so it could be yours is defective.

I hate my spellchecker. When I type quickly on a qwerty keyboard I seem to almost always typo ‘teh’ for ‘the’ and it just ignores it every time. Then with medical terms or expletives (even mild ones like ‘hell’) it changes them to something totally nonsensical. Also lets Bearts and Tangers through.

My autocorrect is a total duck. ;)

I thought the use of the word "of" instead of "have" was a code used by the vermin infiltrators like the underscore.

Yes, but here’s the interesting thing - that expression dates back to Elizabethan times, when ‘gotten’ was an accepted usage in English. Shakespeare used it. It was exported to America, where it persisted, but died out in the UK. ‘Fall’ (as in autumn) did the same thing.

Sometimes when they throw in the odd 1-5 comments they think it's a scent blocker, but they're, erm , sorry, they are wrong, coz the aroma of vermin is over powering. 😷

You could still say ill got gains, but good point, just about the only use in English I can think of that  sounds better than 'got'.

Both are past participles of the verb 'get' but in Collins dictionary 'gotten'  is tagged as 'US'.

Aye, every day's a school day😂.

As tickets for individual matches go on sale tomorrow this is probably the last ST count that can be done

Individual match tickets for home games till mid December on sale 9am tomorrow.

That's a lot of dot counts.

Seems a bit stupid putting them on sale this early which might restrict future season ticket sales. If we get a few cracking players in from now till the end of the window especially.

I've made this point last couple of years - I think the club should at least sell only the Roseburn until this sells out and open the other secitions on thew eek before the first game for individual game tickets allowing the Main, Gorgie and wheatfield to continue to sell as seasons until that point

That way we could continue the dot counts!
