The "young team" Monday night ...

It's quite simple really, the majority of our fans are not arseholes.

Celtic/Rangers on the other hand are. Their pack arsehole mentality would make it dangerous.

Our pack despair at our arseholes means it's a breeze to go in and pick out our soft-skulls. Our fans would part like the red sea to get rid.

The highlighted sentence is bang on the money.  I was being told a story by a guy who had been part of the police presence at a Livi/Rangers game a few seasons back.  One Rangers fan needed to be removed due to his behaviour.  However, the issue was that this was a 'Union Bear' (ooooh!) and the cops knew that if they went in, the rest of his UB mob would kick off.  So the cops had a word with a couple of slightly more sober ones and got them to calm the guy down, and then the guy was arrested afterwards.

You can see how a situation could easily get out of hand.  Away fans object to the police wading in and start a bit of a sketch.  Home fans say, 'I'm not having this at our ground!' and before you know it, you've got a running battle taking place.

The latest report of coin throwing at Firhill is worrying.  It seems that throwing stuff has now become a thing.

It's beyond pathetic.

I didn't say it was novel.  But it seems to have become an essential part of some folks' attendance.  And there's definitley a media focus on it.  It's moved slightly beyond 'isolated incidents' territory.

It seems to come and go in waves. Unfortunately, we seem to be on a bit of a cusp at the moment.

It was only two rows from where I was situated

Cheers mate. As I say couldn’t fully see was only the police sprinting along that caught my eye. To be honest given some of our support I’m surprised something like this hasn’t happened more often

Media focus AND social media focus. They bleed into each other.

On the one hand it makes more people aware and encourages more folk to call it out (as we are seeing here). On the other it provides exposure and encouragement to those that may be inclined to this sort of behaviour.

I don't think it's ever been isolated incidents, only varying degrees of magnitude. We're just far more tuned-in to it for the reasons above.

I was sitting directly behind Caldwell on Monday night, row D, (just along from the young team??), and I didnt see  anything being thrown in his direction. Could well have happened but certainly not continuous as reported in DR. I watched Caldwell a lot during the match, he is a very animated coach and certainly didn’t enjoy the first half. Amusing.

I can promise you this I would not be near a game as I was ashamed that day mate. I have never missed a semi or final since following Hearts in the early 80's, however wont be near Hampden if we make it through this year. Disappoints me to say this as I miss it so much but just cannot justify ignoring these idiots.

I guess that probably does make me lily livered but I cannot justify going any more!

The policing of this is as erratic as the referees.

Thousands of celtic fans sing sectarian songs = **** all

One Hearts fan verbally aggressive = arrest

Bottle thrown at celtic player by hibs = **** all and police/stewards stand and watch game

Coin thrown at same player 5 minutes later = **** all as police not looking at problem area

Calling a player an Irish ***** = arrest and national coverage

Thousands of rangers singing "Fenian *******" at Steve Clarke = **** all

If i was a Government Minister watching, i would be asking severe questions of our police commanders.

This is pretty much my take on last night, the atmosphere got pretty toxic long before the YT started any Budge pish and inside the ground there were very few noticeable naughty songs.

However why some of them felt the need to stand in the isles up the back in the second half is beyond me and then again felt they had to all rush down and see what all the agro was in that stand near then end? Also saw them pre match with a much more extensive song book being belted out almost goading others to challenge them. As well as after them game a group were filming each other as they sang a lovely ditty about rather being from Pakistan than being a Tim, which was apparently hilarious as one of them was clearly although Scottish from a family moved here form that part of the world.

Not offended, just don't see the need or desire.........

Was it not the infamous EDL / SDL guy?

Aye. I was in row C right on the half way line. Plenty abuse hurled at Caldwell, but I never seen anything else. Not saying it never happened, but pretty sure I'd see something if it was a shower.

Thats exactly where I was sitting too (D86 I think it was) and aye youre right Caldwell was great entertainment. Likewise I never saw anything being thrown at all.

As a bonus the gorgeous Jane Lewis was on duty as a trackside reporter type thing. I must have spent more time watching her next to the home dug out in the first half than the game itself. She disappeared after half time though.

“But they are understood to have been shocked and angered by the sheer volume of loose change which was hurled into the technical area from tossers in the main stand - placing Caldwell, his back room team and substitutes in harm’s way.”

Dont usually agree with what the record prints but they have described the coin throwers perfectly . Ffs Caldwell actually defended us up to a point .

It is.

If well aimed you could get one through the fence at ER when they first put it up.

Shouting abuse at  your own team mates or someone like Ann Budge is never, ever, acceptable. Keep your abuse for the ref, you'll get plenty of opportunity in Scottish football.

And what do you mean by 'messy'?

Fans will vent their frustration at  the owner when they feel the manager and team are underperforming  ( and alot of fans are feeling this way)

It happens at every club in the world when fans are pi$$3d off I can't see it being any different at hearts

As for getting messy I mean fans falling out and folk losing there temper ( like the 2 guys having a punch up in the gorgie stand just after Brandon got sent off against Celtic last week.

Hopefully we can get back to winning ways soon  though as that makes everyone happy

Sure it's a hearts fan. I was brought up on the tales of the 70/80's as darts and golf balls with nails drived through them were regular objects of choice. Tannadice was especially bad as supporters would just throw shit back and forth over the nets.

This will never ever change, Thankfully it is now a very small minority and sadly every club has them! I think we do a decent job to keep it away from Tynecastle but you will never be rid of it.

I can remember in the 80s and early 90s when nearly the whole ground would join in with singing sectarian songs, FFS some of your heads would be exploding if you were around then!

"Away away away **** the pope and ira"

"No pope of rome"

"I was born under a Union Jack"

These were all songs regularly sung by the shed!

You have to ask if anyone on this thread is aware that Police Scotland do not wear pointy hats. This is from England but better not let that get in the way of some good old JKB seethe.
